Hi everybody, I am posting this in this post because I believe it is a textureing problem.
This has to do with 3DTS Tehachapi 2 route, and yes I have written to 3DTS and so far they do not know what is going on either. And I do not believe that it is a system problem since out of over 500 cars installed in MSTS this is the only one with a problem.
The Cargill tank car is transparent, all except for the wheels, in the "SJVRR L BK BK 29" activity. I have all of the options turned up to max too.
Now in activity editor in the two D map under properties of the consist, they are also transparent except for the wheels, as well as in the car/engine editor.
Ok, here's the wierd thing, when I put this car in another consist in a different 3DTS activity it shows up just fine. Thats how I know for sure that it is the Cargill tank car.
If I run the "SJVRR tank train" in explorer mode, the tankers are transparent there also, so it apparently has nothing to do with an activity issue.
I just wonder if perhaps 3DTS developers saved the bmp or tga files in the wrong color mode like 32 instead of 16 before they converted to ace? Back when I was reskining cars and engines several years ago, I seem to remember that you can only save in 16 mode or MSTS can not read the textures.
If the above is true then would it be possible for me to pull the tga file out of the ace file and resave it in 16 mode and convert back to an ace file to fix it or not?
I figure some of you that are still in to skinning could probably fix this in your sleep.

Thanks in advance for any assistance here Clem

RE: Transparent Tankers

I don't think it is the car itself. The ace for that is 24bit+Trans. Several of 3DTS locomotives have parts of the skin saved in that format as well. Have you tried a different set of locos on the headend. mervyn.

RE: Transparent Tankers

Yes Mervyn, as I stated I put the car in another 3DTS activity the "Bak car mgr pu consist" to be exact and the car is all there in the sim. I have not tried changing out the locomotive in that activity, will try that and see what happens. The tankers in the SJVRR activity are on several different sidings waiting to be picked up, and they are all invisible except for the wheels.
It still also leaves the question as to why they are invisible in the MSTS activity editor, except for the wheels also. Of coarse that has nothing to do with the engine or the sim.

RE: Transparent Tankers

Ok I swaped out the SJVRR engine with the SF GP20 PH1 engine and the tank cars are still not there, so that eliminates the engine scenario. I am beginning to think that it is a bug in this one activity only or perhaps a bug in this car file.
I just wonder if anyone else is having this problem or is it me only.
Maybe I can get 3DTS to send me a new car file of this one car only, since It has to have it to keep the activity editor from crashing, missing files and all of that.

RE: Transparent Tankers

This is an update to the transparent tanker problem. It was my video card all of the time. Some how most of the some 18 sliders in the GL and 3D tabs in my video control panel had gotten moved. When I set them back to default where they were supposed to be it fixed everything in MSTS.

Thanks
