As a "recreational" project....and in anticipation of Werner's Lehigh Valley Route update.......a couple of the steel mill workhorses:Philadelphia, Bethlehem, & New England's NW2 no. 23Steel Mill Yard Dogs… on the LV route – image 1Am debating doing a "slug" version of this as well, since they were commonly used by PBNE.Steel Mill Yard Dogs… on the LV route – image 2The Lehigh Valley's NW2 no. 183Steel Mill Yard Dogs… on the LV route – image 3The dominant railroad of the area, in it's time. (and, my particular favorite line)

And, just for the fun of it............Bethlehem Steel's 50 tonner no. 25Steel Mill Yard Dogs… on the LV route – image 10While I was at it, thought I might as well do the slug for this unit as well.Steel Mill Yard Dogs… on the LV route – image 11Steel Mill Yard Dogs… on the LV route – image 12Will be leaving town for the holidays, so most likely won't have any of this ready til just before New Year's......but wanted to post some progress shots.

Those are excellent looking textures Mark! I thought I had fixed and uploaded an updated shape file for the SW's that fixes the flaw on the front edge of the hood and the display problem on the cab sides though. I've been rebuilding my SW's in gmax so if you contact me by email I'd like very much to work with you so that I can better incorporate your textures into the improved shape files. The new files also fix the alpha sort on the cab so that the scenery doesn't disappear when viewing through the cab windows.Stew

RE: Steel Mill Yard Dogs....on the LV route

Great work...nice to see more steelmill rolling stock become available as steelmills are probably "the" most heavily "Rail-served" industry there is....(as far as miles of track per plant goes...)Guess I'll have to get cracking on finishing up some of the other steelmill route objects/buildings I've been working on!!!Longhairedwizard

A Suggestion

Nice work, however if I may offer a suggestion on the Reading unit:
- Use Railroad Roman font for the lettering or buy a set of decals and scan them. The lettering you have there is too tall.Very nice job on the doors. I wish I could get the things I do to look like that!Gary

RE: Steel Mill Yard Dogs....on the LV route

Hey Werner.......the route is shaping-up nicely from the pics you've posted at your website.I am obviously greatly anticipating it's release and looking forward to operating in my "home turf", an area where I "grew-up" (using that term with great presumption!).Hope to resume work on the Allentown CNJ passenger terminal shortly.Best Regards,Mark
