This is based off of a super-detailed HO scale model that I own. I used Justin Cornell's model of the GP38-2. I realize that the yellow and the green are not the right colors, and I will be going back and reworking the colors a bit before I release this. If anyone has any suggestions of things that I should do before I realease this, please let me know. Thanks.Shawn

RE: First loco attempt

That is one of the things I have to correct yet before I release it. Does the green look too bright to you? Thanks.Shawn

Nope the green looks good from what I can tell. Looking at it again, your orange looks a little too red... For the orange try an RGB value of R=255 G=114 B=38... it may not be a Pantone match of the actual color but it's close. Here's one for the yellow... R=250 G=177 B=48. See how that comes out...=|GoldenPig

RE: First loco attempt

LAST EDITED ON Dec-19-03 AT 09:33 AM (EST)

I've revised the colors, and I think I have it pretty close right now. I copied the nose logo from the default 38-2, and I don't want to go much smaller than they have it or you can't read it, and this is approximately the size that the logo is on the front of my HO scale model.Sorry guys, I went a little nuts taking pics of it again ShawnEdit: After looking at the noses of the 2099 and the 2081 in these pictures, I see what you are saying chazlee. The logo could use to be a bit smaller. I guess the nose section of the skin of 2081 is a bit bigger than it is on Mr. Cornell's model. That should be a quick/easy fix anyways. Thanks for pointing that out!

RE: First loco attempt

On a side note, can you guys tell me what I need to edit so that I can change the names of the .ace files and still have the whole thing work? That is the only other thing I want to change before I upload it. Thanks.Shawn

RE: First loco attempt

Shawn:Go to your GP38.s file, uncompress it(if needed); I use routeriter to do that. Then open the uncompressed .s file with wordpad and scroll down to where it says "IMAGES". You will see the .ace files listed there. Just change them to match what you renamed the .ace files and save it, just make sure to do it in unicode format. Then recompress the .s file if you need to.

RE: First loco attempt

The way I do it:1) Open Shape File Manager. Load the .s file, and uncompress it.
2) Open the .s file in Wordpad (Windows XP Home Edition). Search for ".ace".
3) Change the filenames listed to what you've renamed the .ace files to
4) Save. Wordpad (at least in XP Home Edition) seems to save as unicode by default.
5) Open Shape File Manager again. Load the .s file, and compress it.

RE: First loco attempt

Yet another thing that needs a little adjustment. Thanks for pointing that out. I haven't really messed with .eng files that much yet (other than making the ditch lights flash which was an adventure in itself). I'll address that before uploading it as well. Thanks again!Shawn

RE: First loco attempt

The nose logo and rear number board lights have been adjusted, and this loco has been uploaded. It should show up in the file library soon. The file name is BNSF2099.zipShawn

RE: First loco attempt

Well thank you. I spent at least 5 hours on it, probably more. Most of it was trying to get the little details right. If I would have been really picky about it, I'd probably still be working on it!!Shawn
