Easier way for Warbonnet painters – image 1

Hi , Anyone out there ever have trouble painting the Santa Fe Warbonnet on the side of a locomotive ? If so then I think I have found a soloution . I was thinking that if someone made it as a Font letter then it would be easier to do then just having to draw it on, anyone care to post thoughts on this ? Maybe someone who is actually good at font creating wants to try it . Let me know your thoughts

well, that was what led me to create the NS logo as a font... I see your point......but I'm not quite sure the WARBONNET would come out the way you want it if it was a font. (Fonts can only be black and white. You mean you want the OUTLINE?Pete Willard

The outline would work too. That is better then what I was thinking , see if it was the whole thing then PSP people could incircle it and replace the black with red or what ever color then wanted too but I think that you have a better idea with the outline

I could try to tackle this with the font maker I got. But I need a side perspective view of the locomotive. I need a good highquality side of of the locomotvie. I also need both Blue and Yellow warbonnet photos and Red, Yellow, and Silver warbonnet photo.

Speaking of fonts, would you be interested in making fonts for the standard highway sign alphabets? In case you need source images, I have all of the characters of all 6 fonts (B, C, D, E, E(M) with lower case, and F) scanned straight from Federal standards.Bruce Bridgesrailfan727 @ yahoo.com

The problem with this is that the warbonnets are different shapes on each type of loco. The warbonnet shape on a Dash 8 or 9 wouldn't work on a GP30 or SD40-2. I found this out while looking for a shape to work with for the warbonnet on my Dash 9's that I did. I found a sheet of Microscale warbonnet decals, and the shape of the bonnet was different depending on whih loco you were doing, so I don't it would work like a railroad's logo font would.Chris Denbow - Baltimore, MD

and let's not forget that the _) thingy differed between locomotives. IE SD40-2 #1's is different from SD40-2 #2's--------Easier way for Warbonnet painters – image 15
