I am sure this problem has been solved many times, but after hours of searching on the forums I still can not find the answer.Maybe someone can give me the link to the answer on this forum.
The ace files I am trying to change are for the Via P42's by Robert Fontaine. The files are 1024x1024 32bit Compressed.I have Exported as Ace (Alpha) not DXT and as Ace(-Trans) but every time I export I lose the window transparency. His windows are a light shade of green, is this why I am losing the transparency?
I tried saving the repainted file as tga then used MakeaceWin and I still end up losing the transparency??
Thanks Roger

There is nothing specifically wrong with Roberts ace file. I just loaded the ace into tgatool and exported it fine. Alpha channel remained intact.Checklist:1) LATEST version of tgatool!
2) TOOLSUPDATE for MSTS from Microsoft.
3) Use the "PATCHED #1 MAKEACE" option in TGATOOLGive those a try and see if it helps.Pete Willard

Thats because when dealing with 1024 ace's only 1 bit alpha's will work, solid black, or solid white, no grey.I'm currently away for a few days, i'll be back soon.
Life is on my nerves right now.

RE: Help with 1024x1024 32bit ace files

I will change the window color to solid black both on the ace file and the alpha channel and see if that works,if that is what you meant?
To answer Pete in the above post I am using
PSP 7
Tagatools version 4.00.21 (Newer version seem to apply to PSP 8)
Toolsupdate for MSTS
and Patched #1 Makeace option
Thanks Roger

>Why no one say use MakeAceWin and
>"Create bitmap (for cab backgrounds and controls)" option?? Because the issue is not the inability to create 1024 images, but the user's problem in getting the proper alpha channel.Cheers!

RE: Help with 1024x1024 32bit ace files

I've just had a few problems with 1024x1024 32bit textures, alpha channels, TGATool2 and MakeAceWin.First, I normally always use TGATool2, but on this particular model (Stew Clark's SW1) I couldn't get the "glazed" window effect with 1024 textures. Stew suggested using MakeAceWin instead, and yep it worked fine for the windows, but the 32bit textures suffered as a consequence. Stew explained to me that it's because only 24 of the 32bits are allocated to the colours, whilst the remaining 8 are dedicated to the alpha channel. Swings and roundabouts it seems. I don't want to lose the 32bit textures, so the windows lose out on this one!Cheers

>It seems is file format problem? They need say they use what program and what format to save it. Generally it need a 32bit TGA no-compress format. You may save sa TGA file, then load that TGA file and see does transparency still exist or not? Attention! That's transparency channel, not additional alpha channel in graphic editor!
