I was wondering if there's a way that I could paint my locomotive with snow and make it only coverd in snow when I play an activity in winter? If you can how?

In a word, no. You'd have to select it as a seperate locomotive if you wanted to use it in winter with snow.Tim Frost

Hey, thats a pretty good idea though mate. Just needs refining!Lets say we have a BNSF SD40-2. We could copy it and make 2 copies. One of them, have it covered with snow and one without snow. And when you want to change from snow to no snow, use wordpad or the Activity Editor >Mike Forster<

How about a FreightAnim of 3D snow with sesonal-textures applied? I beleive the FrieghtAnim files can be in the Scenery place, so it can have sesonal texts, right?Records:Stupid errors: 45

RE: painting locomotive

Hi Stcoeurfyi: the way different textures are associated with a scenery object (note: scenery object) such as buildings, trees etc. is via the lineESD_alternative_texture ( x )in the .sd file of a given shape, with x being a number such as 0, 1, 257, etc.An .sd file - e.g. US2terrace.sd for the grey wooden longhouse of the Marias Pass route - with the lineESD_alternative_texture ( 1 ) gives a building both a "regular" and a winter texture with the latter needing to go into the subfolder "snow" in that route's "textures" folder. Now the interesting question here is what happens if you enter ( 1 ) in the ESD_alternative_texture line of your engine's .sd file, and add a subfolder "snow" with the winter texture into your engine's main folder. Never having tried it, I don't know if MSTS accepts this easy way for a winter texture on a piece of equipment (as these do not have a "textures" folder but draw the .ace i.e. textures files directly from the main folder of the engine), but it might still be worth a shot. Let us know if you try so.Lukas a.k.a Swissie
