UP Flags Modification – image 1

LAST EDITED ON Sep-27-03 AT 02:10 AM (EDT)

I think I weathered it a little too much but with the UP copyrights I am still debating about what to do with this locomotive so I might not put my best into it . Southern Pacific will live on forever in the hearts of the Red and Gray Railfans UP Flags Modification – image 2

Erm... that looks like it's SP-style dirty. But I guess that makes it 'as real as it gets!' I like it but it is a little overboard.Tim Frost

Well in actuallity (sp?) most of the UP units sitting in the Roseville California Yard that have come over Donnner are AT LEAST that dark. Some of them are so black you can not read the road name or see the logos. IMHO I think UP should have kept the Scarlet and Gray.

Well, the weathering is a bit overkill, AND UP has a thing about keeping thier flag units clean.... I talked to Brian (macster) and he told me there is actually a phone number you can call UP to report a dirty flag unit as long as you remember the road number; after that , the UP will wash that unit. I'd weather a non-flag unit as prototypically, a flag unit would NEVER get that dirty..... not trying to bash you as it looks alright, but flag units never get that dirty. out of the flag units i've seen, only ONE had been slightly weathered, the rest all look very clean nearly new ......UP Flags Modification – image 10Hauling America one pixel at a time

Odd, Up here in CA. we always see flag units that are dirty but definately not that dirty , I have to do a little work on it and I probably won't release them anyway but thanks , P.S We saw a flag unit up here a while ago that the unit was filthy but someone had gone back and Scrubbed the Flag off with a Rag , Southern Pacific will live on forever in the hearts of the Red and Gray Railfans UP Flags Modification – image 13

I have to differ with you, living here at the base of Donner Pass, I routinely see SD70s and AC4400 flag units passing through town that are that dirty. Flag and all. If the units stay in Roseville for service, then there are cleaned...at least the flag is washed.Regards,

That's disgraceful. I like how someone wrote SP on it there... I wonder if that was the crew or an act of *harmless* vandalism?Tim Frost
