I'm having problems with TGAtool and it's alpha channel... hoping someone here can explain what's going on so I can correct it.Here's the alpha channel image I created: This is what the alpha channel looks like after I reimport it and am about to save it as a .tga file: But after saving if I reopen the .tga file it has changed: Why would that happen? Needless to say the .ace file created here isn't any good either.I've stumbled into this problem on other occasions too and either have forgotten how to get out of it or have not yet stumbled into the arcane solution necessary....Any help would be appreciated.Dave NelsonWP track, Oakland-Altamont Summit: 90% complete; SP track, West Oakland: 75% complete; Aug 1950
Make sure you save as an "uncompressed" .TGA (click on Options at the Save dialogue box).RegardsYuri. (steam4me) ------------------------------------- Webmaster Australian MSTS Add-ons Page -------------------------------------
It looks a bit like the alpha image was in 24 bit rather than 8 bit greyscale. This would display correctly when you "Reload" but the data that subsequently gets written to the Targa file would be wrong (so when you load the Targa again it would be all corrupted).so it depends how you created the alpha channel. If you created the alpha (or alpha template) in TgaTool2 and then sent it to Paint for editing then it should stay in 8 bit greyscale. If you used some other method then you need to ensure the data is 8 bit at all stages.
Ahh ha!This was the problem allright -- I had created the alpha channel as full color. I'll change it greyscale... that should do it.Thanks!Dave NelsonWP track, Oakland-Altamont Summit: 90% complete; SP track, West Oakland: 75% complete; Aug 1950
