Abrams ATSF 5052 reskin

Pete,
You say this is a reskin of Dekosoft's Sante Fe SD40-2 #5042.
I cannot find an ATSF 5042 SD40-2 on Dekosoft's site. Could you be more specific as to where it is? I have their Pro-edition SD40-2 and it is not in there.

I think Pete Painted one of the Units in the Deko UP Super set , I am not sure wich one , Maybe I am wrong ( And I can say that I don't think this unit was in ATSF Colors when he started )Southern Pacific will live on forever in the hearts of the Red and Gray Railfans

The ATSF 5025 is a reskin of the snoot SD40-2 from the UP Super Set, and the other one is a reskin of the SD40-2 Pack.

Not asking about ATSF 5025. Asking about ATSF 5052. Since Pete's README.TXT says to copy the ENG, the SD and the S file of the Dekosoft ATSF 5042 to the 5052 folder. But I cannot find a ATSF (or any other) 5042 SD40-2 on the Dekosoft site.

I believe the sd40 pack was offered about a year ago. I don't think it's still available. If not, too bad, as they included some pretty cool units in addition to the SF, an excellent CN (#5367, that's been featured here in many screenshots), and 3 in BN cascade green.

Here is the README from ATSF 5052. It says NOTHING about UP3255

Dekosoft Sante Fe SD40-2 #5052 was re-skinned from Dekosoft's Sante Fe SD40-2 #5042.
1. To use sd40_atsf5052 place the sd40_atsf5052 folder into the C:/MSTS/Trains/Trainset/ directory.
2. Copy the ENG, S and SD files from the sd40_atsf5042 folder into the sd40_atsf5052 folder.
3. Rename the S file ATSF5052.s
4. Rename the SD file ATSF5052.sd
5. Open the SD file and on the top line change it to read:
shape ( atsf5052.s
Save the changes when prompted.
6.Rename the ENG file ATSF5052.eng
7.Open the ENG file in WordPad. Using the "find" function (The Binocular icon), search for atsf5042.Replace atsf5042 with atsf5052 throughout the file. This will have to be done 4 times in the ENG file and should look like this when finished:
Wagon ( atsf5052
WagonShape ( s atsf5052.s )
Engine ( atsf5052
Wagon ( atsf5052 )
7a.Search the ENG file again (The Binocular icon) for name. Change this line to read:
Name ("SD40-2 -- ATSF # 5052")
Save these changes when prompted while closing the engine file.
8.Copy the CABVIEW and SOUND folders from the sd40_atsf5042 folder into the sd40_atsf5052 folder.

Yes, but I undertand Marc reluctance to keep the old versions up. It would only lead to more confusion and the question "Why will this not work"The newer shapes are a vast improvement over the old ones, so there is no need to keep them up. I am back. I went fishing for the day. I thought this release would frustrate some customers and open a can of worms for Chip.Dekosoft released several bonus models of the heels of the SD40-2 Pro Set.They included an ATSF SD40-2 #5042. This model was offered for a limited time only and featured an AC unit on the roof common to most ATSF locos. This model is no longer available. I am a huge Dekosoft guy and consider their bonus models to be some of their most fantastic stuff. If anyone picked up the CN, SP loco and the three Cascade green BN's they would agree.Pete

As I understand what Curt, Kevin and Pete are saying, the only .S file that is compatiable with Pete's ATSF 5052 repaint is the ATSF5042.S that Chip provided as a "bonus" for those who bought his SD40-2 Pro-series set some time back. And none of the .S files in either the SD40-2 Pro-Series or SD40-2 Collector Series can be used with Pete's repaint. So current purchasers are SOL.If that is the case, Pete, I recommend that you update the text advertising your repaint to explain that so that this does not come up again in the future.

not to add to anyone's frustration, but I ran 5052 and 5042 in tandem last night with a string of Pete's boxcars. It was interesting to note the subtle improvements Pete made to Chip's already fine original...Salud!

Ok, if that is good enough you.Maybe you could twist Chip's arm and get him to add #5042 as a permenant addition to the Pro-Edition. I posted a similar question on his forum on 3dTrains forumns but the whole system is down now.
