Some models do have square wheels, most are octagon or higher. Can't actually get a perfect circle, computers can't do curved lines. But the appearance of a circle is made by the alpha channel, and if you lose/don't have/screw up the alpha channel you'll get the squared edges since it's the transparency of the alpha channel that actually hides the corners.Have finished my first skin – image 11BTW, the metallic look is perfect, gorgeous repaint.

RE: Have finished my first skin

ok I fixed the wheels by using the ones from one of the other pacific wich saved me some time repainting them however now the new problem is an old one that I have never fixed.
I opened the engine file and renamed where ever it said B O and i renamed all the files to match to ATSF however it wont find it and says error reading train data base TA_Pacific_ATSF and I was sure to read thru both the Engine file and the Tender file and renamed where ever B&O was mentioned. its a brick wall and I keep running into it head long and I am hurting Don Pottorff

RE: Have finished my first skin

Been meaning to do a tutorial strictly on cloning engines & wagons. For the .eng file;Have finished my first skin – image 12Replace only what's in green, unless you plan to change the sound (.sms, two of them) and cabview (.cvf) files to match what you're calling them in the .eng file. Only replace the shape file name if you're renaming the .s file.If you do change the name of the shape file, the .sd filename has to be changed to match, and the name of the .s file changed inside the .sd file.Have finished my first skin – image 13For a complete change, if you change the name of the ace files you need to use Route Riter's MSTS file utilities to uncompress the .s file so you can open in wordpad and change the ace file names it will be looking for to the new ace file names. Usually conbuilder's loco checker will find any problems, provided the boxes are checked on to test everything for that one engine. The .eng file is the key to the whole thing, if aliasing is done (there's a program I saw somewhere that does automatic aliasing, I thought it was in Conbuilder or Route Riter but I can't find it at the moment) there are different ways to do it. The .eng file can alias directly to other \Sounds\~.sms files and other \Cabview~.cvf, or those 3 files can be in the engine's own sound and cabview folders, with aliasing from the .cvf to some ace files in the other engine, and the .sms aliasing the .wav files. Also check to make sure the original works correctly before you clone for reskinning, there are some GP7s, GP9s, and GP30s in the file library that have .eng files looking for non-existent GP30eng.sms and GP30cab.sms files.

RE: Have finished my first skin

So I should use word pad instead of note pad? would seem like a better program anyway
here is the Finished Locomotive painted and ready to test however I got the number backward on the right side so I will have to change it before to much more and i also have to change the harrald on the front of the boiler

metallic? the B&O is the orignal I was painting the AT&SF locomotive above it I was just showing the origanal to Compair. TA did the B&O locomotive but yes I agree it was a good paint
or were you talking about the ATSF locomotive lol
and as far as the tone of the black on the atsf locomotive I didnt really choose it eather it is just how it turned out when I reshaded it in Ulead Photo Express however I am using both MS paint and Photo Express to get the Paint done
I wish I had some training in both of them but I havent even taken Classes in windows as I just learn the programs on my ownDon Pottorff

RE: Have finished my first skin

Thanks to all you guys for helping me tonight you have helped to make a new Locomotive for Trainsim and I am glad that I could be apart of it.
My first locomotive repaint and it only took 5 hours to do but still I have a few corrections to make and one last texture to change on it then it is finished.
I have worked thru the problems with you all and I now have a locomotive repainted and showing up as a seperate locomotive.
AT&SF 1337 will soon be available to those who have access to the TA Pacific locomotiveThanks Again

RE: Have finished my first skin

"So I should use word pad instead of note pad?" Forgot to mention that, didn't I? For XP it don't matter since the version of notepad that comes with XP can save in unicode text format. For Win98, however, notepad won't save in the Unicode text format, so the file won't work. If you do happen to screw up a unicode file by saving it as an ordinary text file, it can usually still be fixed by opening it with wordpad, file, save as, and keep the same name but select "save as type", then "unicode text document". You will usually get a warning saying "you are about to save as text only, which will destroy all formatting", but ignore that, since the type of formatting needed for the program to read it as C code will still be there.

RE: Have finished my first skin

Well guys It looks for a while I cant send the file out as when I tryed today it sends half the file then the server that is my providers server just stops responding and it wont send it even when i break the file down to smaller chunks
I am pulling my hair out and banging my head against the wall.
I am ready to throw this computer out the window and say the hell with it.
Monday I will call my provider and they will not here the end of it.
Right now I am going to find some asperin and get rid of this headake and I will try in a few days to send it untill then I guess I will be the only one who can enjoy my new repaints.
I wish I could share them with the rest of you but you all know how service can be on the internet it seems like none of the providers really give a damn about what kind of service they give as long as they are getting there money for itDon Pottorff
