Here is something nobody has tried: an SD40-2 in the old white KCS scheme. As you can see, this skin still has plenty of work left, but it's getting along. The road number will be #649. I also plan to do a weathered version of this one, and one in the newer grey scheme, since there are no reskins of the TA SD40-2 model in that livery, only ones using the models of Justin Cornell and Jason Dilworth, IIRC.Jonathan Nikiforovs.

Adam: I currently plan on releasing them as 512x512, but I may consider going to 1024x1024, especially for the grey unit.Kevin: The reason I picked 649 as the unit for this skin is because that is about the cleanest white KCS SD40-2 around, judging by photos taken as recently as last year. Here are some photos of the prototype.

Don't worry, though. I'll make a version with plenty of dirt and rust, and I'll apply some light weathering to #649 to match the prototype.Jonathan Nikiforovs.

RE: For all you KCS fans...

OOOHH yes! That's the KCS I remember...the new look..I'm with Kevin..the best looking KCS units had dirt, rust, dents, lots of oil on the under frame parts and 10 different shades of exhaust coatings on the roof and nose top.I'm a bit biased though, I like the "used" look..P.

RE: For all you KCS fans...

Will there be a model with the oscillating light in the nose? The KCS had quite a few of those.I used to see them alot when I lived in Leesville Louisiana.

RE: For all you KCS fans...

Claude, I might be able to fit a "mars" light into one of them, but I'll have to contact a lighting expert first. All I know about lighting is how to alter the position of the lights.
IIRC, KCS has removed the mars lights from its SD40-2s, but that doesn't stop me from adding one to at least one of these engines.

Thanks for the effort anyway.I hope you'll be able to make the oscillating light a reality.

RE: For all you KCS fans...

NOTICE: Even though I now have lots of free time available now that summer is here, it may be a while before these locos are finished, because I just bought a 1:350 scale battleship model (yes, I'm also a battleship aficionado, as well as a railfan). Anyone who has built or attempted to build 1:350 scale models know how big and detailed they are, and thus how much time they take to assemble. I will, however, most difinately finish these KCS skins eventually. Just thought I should mention this before anyone thinks I have showcased "vaporware" here. Jonathan Nikiforovs.
