In my never ending quest for "stuffedware", big things in smaller zips, I'm trying to consolidate some of my early reskins to use common ace files whenever possible. I screwed up the alpha for 02.ace on the previous PO&N SD40-2 pack, so you get blank gray looking in the cab from the outside, and in the process of fixing that I decided I could do with a single ace file for the cab interior of all 3 engines. For the MS/TA SD40-2, I found the 02.ace has one little indentation (arrow) and a little hatch on the exterior, and the rest is all interior cab. Spraying a little grease & dust on the two exterior patches to take care of differences in skin textures, I then decided maybe the cab should have a "red instrument light glow" appearance instead. This is the first experiment with that, lighter, darker, maybe green instead of red? I'm looking for something toned down that will work either day or night, not really interested in getting into day/night alternate textures.
Personally I think a cab interior that is darker is much better.I use the night time cabs during the day because I have yet to see the interior that bright even during the day.BTW the darker interior isn't that bad on the eyes.
Actually, most cab interiors are a grayish-green color, with some being all light gray. These seem to be the most consistent colors. Red is never used, it would probably affect the crew psychologically, and they're mean enough as it is LOL. The BNSF uses the grayish/green interior on most all their locos.
It looks like one of the crew stuck a hamster on the toaster plate and it exploded all over the cab! FWIW, CSX cabs are usually a khaki/fake leather brown color. EDIT: At least the newer CSX (C40-8Ws and up) ones are. I haven't been in an older one in a while and can't remember.
