Marc
How do you get these colors? Is it just by sampling from photos of the loco or rolling stock in question?
If so I may have some colors for you.Gary S

Just sampling photos generally won't get what you are looking for. The lighting(major problem) and inexact color match of the camera and reproduction(slightly less problem) will not give a color you want. Sampling a modeler's spec, or a company webpage, or a brand new actual object will be best.

RE: How Can I post a color on the 3dtrains color chart

Agreed. The colors in the color chart use examples from Accu+Paint, Floquil (Testors), US Duco-color formulas as well as official color references (SNCF colors - thanks Clem!). In cases of gaps (still plenty to fill), examples were sent in an cross-checked by eye. These latter ones - while not perfect - are very close IMHO. Cheers!

OK then I'll see if I can't track down the types of paint that the CGW used for their maroon and see if I can't get a match that way, there were at least 2 shade of fresh out of the shops maroon(you could devote an entire list to fade variants of said color.Gary S
