RF&P Stuff to be uploaded – image 1

Well, I have the first RF&P set ready to upload, but for some reason, whenever I try to go into the ftp site, it is a dead link. It doesn't do anything, and hitting refresh doesn't do anything either. I've tried about 5 times this morning and get the same thing every time. Any ideas anyone?Anyway, here's what's in the first set:RF&P GP40-2 141

RF&P Stuff to be uploaded – image 4Since the RF&P ran their units directionally (even numbered units leading north and odd numbered units leading south), I'll have a second set with GP40 126, GP40-2 142 and Cab 907 in a couple of days.Chris Denbow - Baltimore, MD

Thank you for more Virginia-based motive power. Glad to see it, and it's on the "to download" list. If it weren't for CSX, I could almost look out the window and see these on a regular basis, so I'll be happily imagining a run through local rails with 'em. Keep the RF&P stuff coming, please.

I have a bunch of RF&P rolling stock planned for in the near future, so there'll be some RF&P cars to run between these GP's and caboose.

RE: RF&P Stuff to be uploaded.....

Chris, are you going to do the cars as a pack verses a different folder for each car? If you want I'll help with it.Kevin Arceneaux

Now, I don't know whether to put each type of car in it's own folder, or just make a blanket RF&P folder with everything in it. Any ideas/preferences?TRAINS/TRAINSET

RE: RF&P Stuff to be uploaded.....

I would put it all in one folder:
RF&Pcars
Start with each car in its own folder.
Each ace would have its own name; except for trucks, I'll get to them in a second; i.e.:
rfpbox*****
rfp2bayhop*****
rfp4bayhop*****
rfpps2cd*****
rfpgon*****
rfpbulk*****
where the ***** represent the car number, do this for each car. For empty cars I would add mt at after the car number. This name can also be used for the s, sd, and wag files.
If there are different trucks you could name them truck1, truck2, etc. same for other aces like walks, etc.
After the ace files are named you expand the s file, use route riter, it is real painless to use, edit the ace file lines. Use the search function, makes it go faster. then use RR to compress the s files. Edit the sd and wag files to point to the correct s file and edit the first line of the wag file so it is the same as the filename. You can create an empty wag file or loaded as the case may be by opening the wag file and changing the first line and the weight. Save as, either by adding the mt on the end of the file name or adding it. Do not forget the .wag or it will save it as a text file.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: RF&P Stuff to be uploaded.....

When cars are done as a package is there a way to separate the cars and place them in one folder as I may not want to use all the cars in the package.

RE: RF&P Stuff to be uploaded.....

In a pack like that, and that is how I do my repackages, yeah, in a way. You have to go into the folder and delete the ones you don't use. But if you do that and an activity calls for it you will have to reinstall. To save space you can use RR and compress the ace files. It cuts them about in half.Kevin Arceneaux

>use all the cars in the package. Claude,What I'll do is upload each 2-pack up as I finish them, and when they are all complete, I'll upload a full package, like Kevin has been uploading for his activities. That way, Kevin will have the full set for activities, but people that just want individual cars can get them without having to d/l the whole set. Also, I'll have them all unzip into the same folder, that way if you get some of the individual cars, and then want the full set later, unzipping the full set will overwrite the other ones, that way you don't get duplicates.Chris Denbow - Baltimore, MD

Okay, will do. That's how I have my Trainset folder set up, all 50' boxcars in one folder, all autoracks in a folder, all PS-2CD hoppers in a folder, etc. Took a while to do this over the fall (changing file names, changing .ace file name in the .S files, etc.) but it was worht it. Makes the Trainset folder alot less cluttered. Chris Denbow - Baltimore, MD
