Or when is an RS-3 not an RS-3?When its a Reading Company Class RS-3 GP7 of course! Hopefully, I'll have these in the file ly-berry later this week. Still some detail work, cabview stuff and lighting things to deal with.BTW the color isn't black, its Pullman Green. I pulled the RGB values from a paint catalog. I may play with that a little too before its released. Thanks to Marc Nelson of 3Dtrains and Teemu S.(Enocell) for the add ons to the base GP9s!GH

RE: When is a GP7 an RS-3?

KevinFrom what I have found, the GP7s were not in the Bee Line Scheme. I do have pics of the green and pale yellow scheme (I think we're talking about the same thing there), and yes, they are on the "To-Do" list! THe pale yellow and green will be a challenge. If you have pics of the GP7 with the "Bee Line" on them let me know. I'll have a go at it.By the way, #663 is set up to run long hood forward (Thanks to Teemu!)like Reading usually ran them! GH

> We need more Reading equipment!Well it's not a Bee Line locomotive, but will these do? Gaetan Belanger was gracious enough to modify his MLW C-424 into one that more closely resembled U.S. units. Look for them in the File Library in the next few days.Henry

Nice job on that RDG GP7. This is great we are getting some new northeastern stuff. While we are on the subject of Anthracite Geeps I figured I would post a shot of the repaint I did of the CNJ GP7 in the library. I thought that it was way too blue to accurately represent the engine modeled. Hope you like.Kevin

RE: When is a GP7 an RS-3?

According to the info I have, on the Reading Company, the EMD GP7s were class RS-3, Alco RS-3s were Class RS-1, BLW AS16 were Class RS-2 and FM H24-66 were Class RS-4. Makes your head hurt doesn't it?Imagine the confusion in the repair department!GH

The Reading units also had dynamic brake blisters and no weather cap.I believe Teemu Saukkonen made some mods to the 3D trains model to give it dynamic brake blisters, I think they were Bangor & Aroostook and Maine Central geeps. You can find them in the file library.

There were a few GP7s without dynamic brakes (#660 - 666). They were used for passenger service. You can't see it in the pic above, but #627 does have dynamic brakes.I'll need to correct the winterization hatch before I release them. Here's a progress pic of some more stuff in the works. The diamond under the windows is a real bugger since its on two ace files.GH

RE: When is a GP7 an RS-3?

You're making a brilliant set of engines, I don't mean to critique, just comment. I did some research on the lower numbered engines when I was working on the CCT 70, which used to be Reading 618.
