I can't get the AAR trucks to show up at all. I've tried deleting the truck1.ace file and renaming the aartruck.ace file to truck1.ace, and still no luck. All I get is a partially filled in truck. How do the rest of you who are running the GM&O GP35s get the AAR trucks to show up?
I dont have the GM&O but I do have the Southern set and the AAR truck does show on the Southern engine, the other two have the ordinary truck. Looking at the ace files I suspect that the base shape and therefore the mapping is different on the two types which would acount for the partially filled in truck.mervyn@madasafish.com
YES..I have a solution I just remembered...(DUH) Sorry I did not think of this sooner.Download SHAPE FILE MANAGER, open the shape and rind the trcuk1.ace, and substitute the AAR truck ace file, and see if that helps..It may not take care of it..and I'll keep checking to see why this is happening...P.
PaulI've tried both ways with my CofG GP35 with no luck. Looking at the result in MSTS only reinforces my first guess which is a difference in mapping to the two ace files. If you look at them truck1.ace only contains two truck sides, but aartruck.ace has three, so the model is using the coordinates from truck1 applied to aartruck. Result is the top part of the truck side at the bottom, and the bottom of the next image at the top with a space between. mervyn@madasafish.comI suspect that a bit of judicious tweaking of the aartruck ace will give the desired result, and giving it a slightly different name should prevent it from being used in place of the regular aartruck.
Hi Mervyn!Well..that's the trouble though. I have the exact same file that everyone else has..but for some reason, my shape file must be different that everyone elses, mine shows the AAR truck frames in good shape. I E-mailed Chip at Dekosoft about this, and have not heard back from him yet..I'm sure I'll hear something in the next day or two. As soon as we can come up with a solution, someone will let you all know....thanks..Paul.
OK..got this from Chip. He's re-working the GP35's There are none available with the AAR trucks right now, but soon he will release the revised versions...so hang in there...in the mean time, the GP30's run nice. They have AAR trucks, if your a B&W fan...P.
Hi PaulWhat is your original shape file. I believe the problem lies with the fact that there are two .s files, one for truck1 and one for aartruck, and that is why you have no problem while others do.If you put the two ace files side by side the bottom image matches, but the problem comes from the middle image on the aartruck when applied to a truck1 .s file.mervyn@madasafish.com
