I'm wanting to know how you assign an object in Gmax as AlphaNorm, eg: the cab so the windows are clear, and what the materials should be...diffuse, texdiff, etc and how gmax looks after specular lighting.Thanks. Craig Scott Chief Casino Express Design Engineer cscott02@optushome.com.au
Set the Shader to "BlendATexDiff" and the Alpha Test Mode to "None" (or "Trans" for 4-bit alpha). For specular lighting, set the Lighting Palette to "OptSpecular25" (750 is supposed to be higher, but tends to not be as smooth, accenting the poly faces in the sim).Cheers! I've applied the settings as described but still can't see through the windows. Needless to say, the ace file does have an alpha layer. In TSM you had the option to assign the object as AlphaNorm etc, but in gmax, I can find no such interpretation. Please outline all necessary requirements and procedures, thankyou. If you applied the settings above, then it should work fine. If not, then check the settings again - me thinks you missed a step.Cheers! Marc - 3DTrains http://www.3dtrains.comPro Series SuperPacks
All the settings I had were correct. What I needed to do was select all the polys on the object, then at the bottom of the modify panel there's an Alpha box with a number in it. This number is a percentage of the opaque/transparency level of the object. Only after I adjusted this did the model display see through windows. Thanks for your advice though, I would not have got this far without it anyway. Craig Scott Chief Casino Express Design Engineer cscott02@optushome.com.au
