Hey,Using a program like Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop..Open up the file you want to edit...All the files that are available for "painting" are located in the "samples" folder the Main Train simulator folder..Remember that when you SAVE use SAVE AS and put the edit elsewhere so that you don't overwrite the default skins.Let me know when your done with your first skin & I'll get ya going on installing it into the game..Tim Kent

Jul-31-01, 05:46 PM (EST) 3. "RE: how do I create skins?????" You need to use a program that can handle targa files (those ending with .tga) that have an Alpha channel to control transparency. Adobe PhotoShop and Paint Shop Pro are known to work, but they could well be others that work too.

Aug-03-01, 05:20 AM (EST) 6. "RE: how do I create skins?????" You can download a 30 day trial version (actually 60) of Paint Shop Pro v7 from www.jasc.com which should allow you to get some things done, and see if you like it. Then you can decide if its worth paying the dosh ($99 if you purchase online).Ian M.

Aug-03-01, 06:03 PM (EST) 8. "RE: how do I create skins?????" Hello Tim,
Thanks for your prompt response. I have Paint Shop Pro and what I am really looking for is a step by step run through of the skin process. I had a look through the forum earlier on and found it confusing, especially the Makeace stage. if you have the time this old guy down under would appreciate your assistance.
Regards,
Allan. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-13-01, 06:54 PM (EST) 9. "RE: how do I create skins?????" I have not tried this yet, but there is also a program called "Adobe Photoshop LT" which, in my experience using it for other purposes like cleaning up slide scans, is just as good a photoshop. It does not have all of the bells and whistles, but the last time I saw it for sale it was about $50, US currency.J. H. Sullivan, P.E.

Aug-14-01, 02:56 PM (EST) 10. "RE: how do I create skins?????" I have been using Adobe PhotoShop Elements. It's a subset of the regular PhotoShop program, but costs a lot less. While I haven't found a way to edit the Alpha channel, it does preserve it, so you don't get square wheels and such. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
