First off, I would like to thank Rich Garber for creating, and sharing his magnificent route, Ohio Rails, with all of us. Without it, I probably wouldn't have attempted to reskin one of my favorite engines. This all started over the Christmas holidays. I was waiting for someone to reskin a GP9 in the OR&W scheme. I waited... and waited... and waited. Then I said to myself, "Self, why don't you try and do it yourself?" So, I bought PSP7, dowloaded the freeware 3DTrains GP9, and proceded to paint my own GP9 in OR&W colors. I showed it to Rich after I finished and the next thing I new, the OR&W RR now has 12 new engines!I was feeling kinda guilty coming here and only "taking" from the community. I've learned a ton coming here, and I thought it's only right that I give something back to the community.I have been a big fan of Rich's work since the East Metro days. That's why I used the Ohio Rails as my first attempt at re-skinning.I would also like to thank Leith Platten for allowing me to redo a few of his original re-skins for the OR&W.The list of what will be in this package is as follows;RS1's and RDC's by Dick Cowen,
F7A&B ver3.0 and GP9 ver1.0 by Marc Nelson of 3DTrains,
C30-7 by John Peterson,
SW1500 by Mark Toland,
RS3 by John Fowlis,Good news, is they are all finished and are in the testing phase. Bad news, is I can't give a release date yet. But I hope very soon.I hope you enjoy them. Marv

Good job! Those all look great! Can't wait. Now the tricky part. Activities to go with them and some consists to go along. Keep us posted for shure.
By the way. Should I add that I'm drooling too? LOL!

RE: Ohio Rails Gets a New Look!!

Thanks for the complement. I had fun doing them. As it is now there are no activities to go along with this package. The plan was that the original painted engines done by Leith Platten will be replaced with these "skins". That being the C30-7, F7A, SW1500, and the RS3. So any activities using these engines will be "new" so to speak. The new engines GP9, (2) freight RS1's, (1) passenger RS1, and the (3)RDC's will have consist files so you can run them right away.I also forgot to mention, (slapping forhead), that Dick Van den Hoven is doing the final testing and setup for packaging. Thank you Dick!!! He is also correct that there is a passenger version of the RS1 #107 that has been reversed to run short hood forward. It looks really nice pulling the heavyweight passenger cars that are available in the 2nd (Ohio Rail) steam package.I also added an F7 B unit. If your comfortable in the activity editor, you can replace any consist that uses 2 F7A's to an F7AB combo. The RDC's by Dick Cowen, come in 3 different versions also. The RDC1 is a passenger only version. The RDC2 is a combo passenger/baggage. And the RDC3 is a smaller capacity passenger with a Railway Post Office. Each of these can be run alone, or coupled in pairs or 3's.
Thanks Again,
Marv

Hi,And to give a little note.
There are two versions of the RS1 done by Dick Cowen.
- RS1, running long hood forward with two different road numbers
- RS1, running short hood forward with steam generator for passenger trains. It is the black one on Marv pictures.Dick van den HovenOhio Rails Gets a New Look! – image 9

RE: Ohio Rails Gets a New Look!!

I've searched the train-sim.com file libraries before, but have not been able to find this route. Where can I get it?
Thanks,
Chase

RE: Ohio Rails Gets a New Look!!

Thanks. As for the sounds, I personanlly, have the alco sounds aliased to the SW1500. (I know, it's an EMD, but it's the only other sound package that I have). For this package though, everything is aliased to the default GP38, except for the RDC's which are coming with their own cabview. We're trying to keep the download size as small as possible, even though it's around 10 megs right now. Thanks for the tip on the alco sounds by Bill Mahan. I assume they are here in the library? I'll check it out.The lettering font I used for almost all the engines is Times New Roman, italics. I think for the freight RS1's I used Georgia font.We will keep everyone updated. It should be soon. Rich will be making the installer for me, so installation should be a snap.MarvHere's a shot of the RDC cab, done by Alex Hall;
