I have been using the older version of TGATool2 for the longest time, and decided to get the newest version the other day. I deleted the old version and installed the newest version. I also have MakeAceWin installed as well now (same day as the new TGATool2).Here's my problem. I was reskinning a loco, and during the reskin, I was continually saving in PSP, then reloading the image into TGATool2, then saving (with Zlib compression), and everything was going smoothly. Then I run the sim to check the unit out, and it is showing the original texture, no sign of my reskin. I went back and checked everything, made sure I saved the .ace file to the right place from TGATool2, and everything checked out.So, my question is, WTF happened to my reskin?!?! Can anyone help me out here? I never had this problem with the older version of TGATool2 or the original MakeAce. This is all happening after installing the new TGATool2 and MakeAceWin.Any help would be appreciated, as I'm ripping my hair out. I was almost done the reskin, and now I'm back at square 1!Thanks,Chris Denbow - Baltimore, Md. CPL: CSX Photo Library - http://cpl.railfan.net TKW Paint Technician - http://www.trainsimstuff.com
You made a backup of the original and you modifed the backup. Now, you forgot to rename the backup to the orignal.

This is the same way I've been doing reskins for a year and a half now, and this is the first time this has ever happened. Is it just coincidence that it happened when I installed the updated TGATool2 and MakeAceWin, or something else? What I do when I reskin is, load the xxxxx.ace file up in TGATool. Then send the image to editor (PSP). Work in PSP, then "Save" (not "Save as..."). Reload image in TGATool, then export as "xxxxx.ace". It overwrote the previous copy. Now, when I do this with the newest TGATool2 and MakeAceWin, it's not overwriting the previous copy. I'm just curious why.Chris Denbow - Baltimore, Md. Okay, I figured it out (too bad the reskin wnt down the drain before!) I didn't realize that I had to "Save as" a .tga from TGATool, then convert that back to an .ace file using MakeAceWin. I finally got it to work right, and everything is back to normal. Just wish I had known that before I lost the whole @#$%&!+ side of an engine!Well, back to paint color matching........... again. Yo ushouldn`t use MakeAceWin with Tgatool2. Use the new makeace.exe that comes in the same package as MakeAceWin.MakeAceWin is not the same as Makeace when run by TgaTool2. It`s not a commandline prog so the parameters TgaTool2 is passing won`t work properly with it.The newest makeace has all the functions of MakeAceWin but in a command-line form. This is why TgaTool2 doesn`t have a "MakeAceWin" option. Use the commandline version and the "Patch#1 Makeace" optionOr...export a TGA and use MakeAceWin seperately on it.
