Jul-30-01, 08:45 PM (EST) "New skin crashes train.exe?" Hi all, having a bit of a problem creating a skin for the SD40. I used the .bmp and .tga files from the \SAMPLES folder as a starting point. After making my changes to the .bmp (the sides and top IIRC) I thought I could try converting them to .ace and see how things looked so far in the sim. Both files were 24-bit and the .tga still had its alpha channel since I hadn't touched it yet. Makeace returned no errors and I kept the filenames the same as the original .bmp and .tga sources. The locomotive shows up in the Consist Editor although the image there shows up as if I hadn't modified the skin at all. When the sim begins to load after choosing an activity (Explore Route in my test case), the load progress gets about halfway and crashes in train.exe. I double-checked the requirements for creating textures and it appears that I meet them. What else could I be doing wrong? Mr. F Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: New skin crashes train.exe?" chaces are you probably didnot re-name all the items needed to be re-named in the .eng and .sd files. for example, in the .eng file everywhere where it says (SD40) and sd40.s in the engine file you need to rename it to mysd40(3 places)and mysd40.s for example for the sim to recognize it as a new loco. you also, in the case of the sd40 cannot make any fancy engine names where it says wagon if they are not the same as the first area where it says wagon. also in the .sd file you need to re-name the .s file from sd40.s to mysd40.s for example. below is an example of teh rename areas used from one of my sd40's i made for the sim. only certain areas close to the name file i kept to show you the general local of teh files. in the real .eng file you will have to scroll down some to get to the last two (wagon) file name areas. areas where re-names need to be made are in bold for indentifying purposes only Wagon ( TWOLDSD40C
