A new reskin of KWK100's GE 44 ton in a Canadian National Railway livery of 1954.
I'm not sure is CNR use this type of engine, I never saw it in both, reality or photos.
I guess the whole look of the engine and I try to have a good green and yellow colors close of CNR colors of this time. It's a pure fictional repaint of this engine... I think it looks not so bad.GE 44 Ton Reskin in CNR Livery of 1954 – image 1Have a nice dayGE 44 Ton Reskin in CNR Livery of 1954 – image 2

RE: GE 44 Ton Reskin in CNR Livery of 1954

Yep, they did. I remember seeing numbers 5 and 6 (in the green & gold paint job) on the shop track in Edmonton, Alta. in 1967 or '68. They had the CANADIAN and NATIONAL on either side of the cab, and the number below the cab window. I think they may have had the maple leaf herald on the side of the cab, but on that I'm not sure. cheers,
Ernie

RE: GE 44 Ton Reskin in CNR Livery of 1954

Silly me. I shoulda cleared up the paint issues in my last post. Thanks for coverin it Ernie! The 44-tonners were painted as Ernie described and they DID NOT have the maple leaf herald displayed on them anywhere. It would appear that the units were all green EXCEPT:
- frame sill is yellow
- radiator grills on each end are yellow
- pilots have a yellow stripe approx. where the sill would be
- pilots are green and black. The top portion is green and angles in a V pattern from the bottom of the sill on the sides to just below the coupler in the center.
- trucks are black
- handrails are green, yellow on each side of the ladders on the four corners of the unit. There was also the class number below the unit number. The unit number was centered horizontally on the cab maybe six inches or so below the window. All of the CNR 44-tonners were off the roster by 1969 and I don't believe they ever received any other livery than the one they were delivered in.Ray
PS: Sorry kwk if I mislead you there ... I meant the pics in the book were black and white. Never even related that to CN's newer paint schemes!!

Some touching up on the CNR GE44 ton to be a little bit closer to the reality.GE 44 Ton Reskin in CNR Livery of 1954 – image 7GE 44 Ton Reskin in CNR Livery of 1954 – image 8One thing is sure: the artistic taste of CN for their switchers was and is very poor. Thanks for your replies. I would like to know if somebody remember or have informations about GE 44 ton from canadian harbours. I think it was NHB National Harbour Board. The whole engine was paint in green forest and the logo on the side of the cab was round with a background white and the tree letters NHB, also the name in english and french around and ships behind?GE 44 Ton Reskin in CNR Livery of 1954 – image 9

RE: GE 44 Ton Reskin in CNR Livery of 1954

Hey ...That's looking pretty good ... however I would like to offer two pieces of constructive criticism. First, the radiator grills front and rear should be done in yellow rather than green (like in your original pics, but with your new, much nicer yellow). And second, if possible, the "Canadian National" should be moved up to the top edge of the hoods (just below the curve to the top of the hoods). It would also be nice if the hood door details could be brought to the top of the logos. Please don't take this the wrong way ... just trying to help you get it as close as possible to the real thing. You're doing a great job!Long live CN!Ray

Hi, RayOh no! I don't take it in the wrong way. A good constructive criticism is always welcome. I appreciate your help greatly. Thanks!"if possible, the "Canadian National" should be moved up to the top edge of the hoods (just below the curve to the top of the hoods)"No, in this actual state the top of the edge curve on the top of the hood. Look this picture : my first idea:GE 44 Ton Reskin in CNR Livery of 1954 – image 10I have my little idea, i think the doors on the hood to hight and if I correct it I'll can but it's a work pixels by pixels and tonight it's to late i'm to tired. Tomorrow I'll try it and pick-up the yellow layer for the radiators.Good night everyone I past to time to seach and to find the correction for the Dogskill Route. But I have it and a lot of other tips on misc. fields of MSTS. GE 44 Ton Reskin in CNR Livery of 1954 – image 11

Now you've got it. That looks great!! Just a little question ... do you know if these skins will be able to be moved to the new version of the 44-tonner when it's ready?Again, nice work. You've really captured the look of the CNR units very well now!Ray

Yes for the most part all skinds of the locomotive will be directly transferrable to the new version. I say most part because I have had to rework the textures for the sides, and front of the hoods. Some areas of the texture file have also been increased in size (by about 1 pixel) so in some areas you will have to touch this up too. But other than that yes! This is kwk100 and I'm 10-10 on the side.KWK100's GE Locomotive RebuildingUpdates (Jan 9 2003)GE 44 Tonner V2.00 and the 5 Ton Brownhoist nearing completion. RE: GE 44 Ton Reskin in CNR Livery of 1954

Thanks a lot for your great help Ray. Whitout this, it would be only a fictionnal repaint. I can't forget your help in the readme.txt file.
Same for Ernie.I think to upload this engine soon but before I have to obtain the right from the author KWK100. I'll send an email today about it. For the new version I kept everything on files and more important on a lot of layers and alpha channels. These are very useful to make some changes whitout to start all.Have a nice day, NicoberGE 44 Ton Reskin in CNR Livery of 1954 – image 16

Hi, you can release the repaint! That looks just awesome! The only suggestion that I have is that the diamond plate on the walkway looks a little big. Scale that down to about 10% of its current size and it will look great!Good work on the repaint! And all you 44 tonner reskinners out there: upload all the repaints that you want, just be sure to include my readme.txt file in your .zip file when you upload, and I will be happy haha. Although it isn't a big deal if you forget it.This is kwk100 and I'm 10-10 on the side.KWK100's GE Locomotive RebuildingUpdates (Jan 9 2003)GE 44 Tonner V2.00 and the 5 Ton Brownhoist nearing completion. RE: GE 44 Ton Reskin in CNR Livery of 1954

I agree with you about the diamond plate of the walkway. I increased all by 35% to include all photo-texture 2 times but the result was dissappointing. I counted the rows of plate and now I had 7 and I realized that the repartition was front left to right and not only on each side of walkway. This part of template work for all the platform, from left to right and front to back. I increased radicaly my texture from 100 X 400 pixels to 300 X 800 pixels. The original photo-texture was multiplied by 18 not increased.GE 44 Ton Reskin in CNR Livery of 1954 – image 18I thing the result is better but i loose in clarity. All the time you have make some compromises.GE 44 Ton Reskin in CNR Livery of 1954 – image 19

The final touch to this repaint.
I removed the black ugly pixels near the top of the hood over NATIONAL. Also I adjusted the lenght of Canadian and National to be equal both side and to be closer to the cab without a green band.GE 44 Ton Reskin in CNR Livery of 1954 – image 21This reskin of the GE 44 ton will be upload today or tonight.Hope to enjoy with it.Have a nice day NicoberGE 44 Ton Reskin in CNR Livery of 1954 – image 22
