RE: New SOO power

If they let you repaint it, they'll probably give you one of two options:
1) Only upload repaints to their site.
2) Only upload the ace files, but not the whole engine, to this file library which will only allow owners of the originals to use the files. Looking good, though.

RE: New SOO power

Just a detail correction before someone throws a fit. The Soo never had an SD50, only SD60s and 5 SD60Ms. Looks good though. BTW all are still in Soo colors and reporting marks. None have been done in CP although the lease on the first 21 expires in less than 24-hrs. After that CP may renumber/repain them.Long live the SOO!

RE: New SOO power

Hi Ron, It is in the rear hood doors mainly. The SD60's have three extra doors. The rest is on the inside. The Sd50 was the last use of the 645 prime mover, as the SD60 has the 710. The SD50's were non-comp. controlled as well, while the SD60's were.
Now, to really nit-pik, and since you stomp the same areas as me for the most part , remember back in 84-85 when the CNW got its SD50's? They were delivered with standard HTC trucks (same as on the SD40-2) and the SD60's were delivered with the newer roller-bearing (rotating axle bearing cap.) That was one other way to tell the difference.
(Just to jog your memory, or To really confuse things, the CNW GP50's were delivered with the Blomberg "M" trucks, and they were all retrofitted with a newer, rotating bearing cap Blomberg "B") Another was the winterization hatches on the SD60's of the CNW, and none on the SD50. (In reality, the SD50's were built to Missouri Pacific standards, as the MoPac had ordered them, and the UP cancelled the order after the UP/MP/WP merger. The SD60's of the CNW were actually SOO units. The SOO ordered them before they tried to get the Milwaukee, and EMD was in process of building them. Then they got the Milwaukee Road, and had no finances left to get the units, so cancelled the order.) In BOTH cases, the CNW, ever looking for a bargain, picked up both sets for a song!So that is kinda a look into the SD50/60's differences. Like I said, for a generic term, it was the long hood doors on the rear. But for you and I, It was a more "personal" look at the differences!!Hope I helped!!
Later! Kelley D. Ellison

RE: New SOO power

Hey Kelley;
Of course, you know the differences; as I'm sure a few other purists would also. I was just referring to visual differences here on the simulator, not enough to quibble about;right? Later Ron K of Rockford

most likely i will repaint it into NS...and it looked like the only visual difference between the sd 50 and sd60 is a couple of extra doors at the end of the unit
