Gang! I've been enjoying painting 3D Trains's F's for a while now and I'm having no trouble getting the alpha to go along with the ".bmp" when I ship the image over to the MSTS sim files. My recent efforts involve the repainting of the C&O cars to haul behind my redone F's. I've run into a problem though. To combat this problem, I've gone through the help folders in PSP again. Seems that T'Tool will MakeAce of bmp's but not tga's. I was prompted to try tga's because the alpha ch. goes with them when saved. PSP sends up a flag stating that Windows will not save the alpha when shipping a bmp. Any ideas here? I will still go through the help folders but any assistance from you would be welcome. BTW. I started painting V3 F's in NP's Pine Tree paint about 2 1/2 weeks ago.... I just thought it was------well, you know. Lu.

RE: Aniv. issue, PSP & TGA Tool 2.

If you are doing a straight repaint without moving the window area the best way to handle it is :-Open the ace with T'tool and send the main image to editor (PSP), keep t'tool open.Edit the main file in psp, and save ( not save as ).Go back to T'tool and reload after edit, then export as Ace(Alpha).I find it easiest to do a section at a time and then check the result in TS.

RE: Aniv. issue, PSP & TGA Tool 2.

Yeah! Your idea here looks like a good one to me; and I think it makes sence too. While I'm working on these, I load the texture into the sim to have a look. I haven't put together a seperate engine for the sake of my 'in progress' paint jobs. Simply, using T'Tool to just bump out the NYC tex's for the one I painted. Open up the sim and take a look at the progress. It helps to line up syriping between the nose and the carsides. I write all this as someone else may be reading these. Looks to me that you have things at hand so please, bear with me. I know that the alpha should be on top of the texture and I've been all the way to keeping a copy of the channel in another folder. 'Never did figure out how to put them back together again though. Thanks for the input. I'm going to try it out now. BELIEVE ME, this is exactly the thing I am looking for. Thanks again! Lu.
