Here's my first shot at a repaint. It couldn't have been possible without the great model by John Peterson (alabamarailfan - Roll Tide!) and the various helpful hints from these boards. It still needs some touching up, but I think it looks pretty good!Opinions welcome.GH
I was wrong. The 400's were U18's Independence Class, and actually had namesakes with an eagle on the front instead of the pine tree. For a lot of repaint information on various GP, E/F, and U engines in the MEC lineup, Larry Goss and others have posted a lot of good photo content on examples of the different engines and paintjobs.Do an Altavista search on "maine central railroad"Larry Goss website can be found here:http://silcon.com/~lgoss/Homepage.htm
Thanks for the tips. I already have MEC VOlumes 1 adn2 by Jeremy Plant and George Melvin. Lots of good pics in there.Actually MEC never had any U23Bs painted up like this. Its purely fictional. I don't think its bad for a first try. The numbers on the side should be larger and more towards the front and there are a couple other things that could be moved around a bit.I couldn't figure out how to get rid of the nose lights so they are there too.It really doesn't matter since this is a fictional locomotive anyway! I suppose if there is enough interest I could contact the original authors and upload it.GH
