The bitmap on the nose of my Seaboard E8 is distorting terribly. Can anyone tell me what is happening and how to fix it? I have invested a lot of time in this loco and am nearing the end. Two screen shots are included.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
the "wavy" on the side is a moire pattern caused by the mip levels in the .s file. it looks like the "wavy" on the nose top is a mapping error. that is what it looks like from here. Hauling America one pixel at a time Bill Hemb; train sim repainter, 3d modeler
I am assuming we are taking aboout the scaloping paint line on the nose.I agree it's a texture mapping problem, looks like it's stretched too much on the nose. I haven't modeled for MSTS, but I can remember using model programs that could grab the vertex positions from various view angles of the model. If you were to take a front angle, you'd get very little space between the vertices for the top of the nose, and as a result the texture would be stretched badly over the nose.Using that software, I'd simply pull up the texture map view, and move the various vertices for the nose top so they were farther away from the vertices of the headlamp and front of the nose, so more image pixels were mapped onto the top of the nose.Did that make any sense?

I found that little problem on the nose when I tried doing an L&N E9. Jens-chris said it was a mapping issue. Hopefully he will update it when he has time. Thanx (Wp713)
