Work in progress of another F3 reskin. Bangor & Aroostook F3. Variation of 3DTrains_F7_NYC v3.0 - the freeware version. Unbelievable the amount of variations one can do with the texture map. Please let me know what you think Dwight.......

Semi-off-topic: Anyone see the movie Cider House Rules (Michael Caine, Toby McGuire)? - The movie's set in Main during WWII, and there's some great shots in the begining and end of a BAR passenger train...Anyone know if the steamer is a bonafide BAR loco?Cheers!

RE: BAR the next project

Thanks for the comments guys
Here is a shot of "in progress" of the rear end. I'm trying to make this as close as possible as the original. Things like, no rear end ladder, no steam generator nor dynamics and no front frame side steps. Unfortunately I cannot change the position of the rear light nor the front bell. But one can only do with whats available and thats OK with me. So after I re-read all the original text files and do some more "ace" work I will upload in a week or so. Thanks again to 3D trains for an excellant model. Also below are some original pics of the rear thing. Thanks
Dwight.......

LAST EDITED ON Nov-11-02 AT 03:16 AM (EST)

Most excellent repaint, Dwight! Sorry about the rear light, but I based it's position on EMD's default - wouldn't you know it that most railroads had their own way of doing things - the nerve! Edit: As a suggestion, I would de-saturate the orange a bit (221, 101, 59), tone-down the black to more grey-like (44, 44, 44), and maybe add a tad of blue to the light grey (176, 182, 194). Bake for 30-minutes at 350-degrees. Serve fresh and hot! Cheers!

RE: BAR the next project

Marc,
Your model is so close to the original I'm not even gonna worry about the light. If you placed all the variants of the F3/7 in the ace file (1) There isn't enough time in life to do it (2) THe zip file size would be so large that download time would be in days and (3) I don't think there is a hard drive large enough to handle it, let alone MSTS trying to handle it The specular lighting effect is fantastic. I'll give the color change a shot - think you've got something there. I scanned from pretty close to to original color samples but I keep forgetting that MSTS plays with the colors. Always glad to get suggestions.350 deg for 1/2 hr? Is that the equivalent of 80% power for 15 mins, 1/4 turn and 10 mins more? Thanks

>Is that the equivalent of 80% power for 15 mins, 1/4 turn and 10 mins more? No, your example only applies to left-handed wingnuts, Flamingo Brand® automatic shoehorn waxers, and hydraulic toenail clippers (all variants) to name but a few. Cheers!

RE: BAR the next project

Marc, Guess what? The kids are asleep so I got some time with the computer. Anyways I took your advice on the color desaturation and these are the results - both front and rear. BTW - the original shots are about 20 year old Extachrome in Hermon, ME when I use to live up there.Dwight

RE: BAR the next project

Thanks Marc,
Give me a hint If there is a "square" to place high fan shrouds I can't find it and I don't remember seeing that marked on the original texture map "Map file" so I didn't persue this too much.Dwight.......
