*These are all of the coaches currently in service with the D&S. there are open air observation cars. and cabooses, which names were not listed here because they are not coaches. Information from "Cinders and Smoke", a book bought at in the concession car of the train i rode Aug. 4, 2001. The car i rode in with my parents and brother was needleton. I hope this helps out.

RE: More Durango & Silverton Coaches

Thanks for the name list. I should be able to crank out a few more cars this way. I have a few pictures of the coachs and on some I can read the name and on others I can read the number. I only was able to find the above three cars that I could read both numbers and names.I hope to upload these cars in the near future. The only issue that I am currently having is how to get permission from John Fowlis. Since he did the original model I would like to make sure it is ok to upload the repaints.By the way, you have been doing some really nice skinning. I myself am just getting into the whole repaints part of the hobby. I can see that it is going to be very addicting.Again thanks for the number/name list.

RE: More Durango & Silverton Coaches

Thanks for the heads up. I caught the mis-spell in everything else (readme, eng file, etc.). The only place I did not look was the car itself.Again thanks!

Hey BillThe following is NOT accurate.
b-2 Cinco Animas private car (red color)
b-3 Nomad private car (red color)
b-7 Gen. William business car (red color)The Cinco Animas and Nomad are available for charter. I road the D&S last weekend and the Cinco Animas was being used for a wedding. The "General Palmer" is the Private car of the Harpers (the current owners of the line).Just trying to helpNickMore Durango & Silverton Coaches – image 8 More Durango & Silverton Coaches – image 9

Everyone: I have to reply to my own post. After talking with a friend I worked with on the DSNGRR who is still there, the Nomad has been repainted red and placed in the museum. It can still be chartered. dsngrr_473

Well aint that something. I am very curious when that photo was shot. When I was a kid, we rode the D&SNG and I remember the Alamosa being yellow, but thought all the private cars were red. While there last weekend all the private cars and the Alamosa were red. Here is a shot of the Nomad. Its currently in the museum so I couldn't get very good shots of it. Clearly red as of 10/12/02.

RE: More Durango & Silverton Coaches

The repaints look great! The textures are a lot more detailed than what I've seen so far for that type of car. I hope John will give you permission to post these, since I'm a big Durango & Silverton fan. I last rode in 1996 with my wife on our honeymoon, and I'd like to see a model of the McPhee (#311), which is the car we rode in.Hooked on Narrow Gauge!

RE: More Durango & Silverton Coaches

John did give permission and there are currently 3 coaches and the concession car in the file library. I uploaded a 4th coach today. It is the San Juan, I uploaded it yesterday but managed to do it with the misspelling that was mentioned above (I fixed the misspelling and then misplaced the updated ACE file, oops)and had to have it pulled out of the file library. The updated version should be available soon.

RE: More Durango & Silverton Coaches

I posted the previous message before I finished reading your entire message. Do you have any pictures of the McPhee. I want to try and get the repaint as close to prototype as possible. To date I have only done repaints of cars that I can verify the style of car. Thanks for your input.

Hey Dave your cars look great! I went digging in some of my old rolling stock and came up with these:

I have had them done for over a year now but have never uploaded them. They were the very first repaints I ever did, and looking at them now, I would say they could use some improvement.

Thanks for the feed back. I like the weathering that you did on your box car. Weathering is one of the things that I would like to attempt.

Dave
Love your D&S cars! They're much nicer then the ones I did a long time ago. I haven't downloaded yours yet, and I can't tell from the pictures, but if you're having an issue with the floor being the same color as the roof, let me know. When I did mine, John re-mapped the texures for me to correct this. If you want, I can send you the updated s, sd and ace files. By the way, three coaches are now painted Tuscan red with gold. They are General Palmer, Nomad, and Cinco Animas. These are private first class cars, and when together they form what is known as the Presidential Special. At RailFest it cost almost three hundred buck a pop to ride it. I uploadded a version of Presidential Special a while back. Great repaints!GrizzlyMore Durango & Silverton Coaches – image 27
