The UP GP9's are almost done, with a surprise it will include the one off UP unit which was used to compare turbochargers in the 60's, it has the extra side vent openings in the hood used for air circulation. Hope theyre liked, they'll be up soon as I finish some final touches, hopefully by mid next week, heres scrnsht. John

RE: UP GP9's almost here

Thanks for the kind words!, they turned out pretty good, I'm contemplating making a 3 engine set. So far has 191, 283 and would be pretty easy to make a third number for a nice road set.

RE: UP GP9's almost here

Looking preety good, John. Be sure to "juice up" the .eng file for the turbo unit. (I think they were close to 2,000 hp.)One nit: I think they both need a slogan on the cab side. Most probably "Dependable Transportation".Looking forward to seeing them in the library.Henry

RE: UP GP9's almost here

Yes definately so, I'm in the process of going through the .eng file to "juice" up the power on 283, read somewhere one of the turbo configs ran close to 2200 HP. I am considering the slogan on the cab sides. The early geeps of this type used 3 types that I'm aware of through the years. Because the model does not have separate cab sides I cannot use the earliest example which had route of the streamliners on the engineers side and serves all the west on the firemans side. Dependable transportation was used in the latter 60's and 70's on both sides.
One final thought for anyone with interest in these particular units, The lettering of this era had black outline on the lettering, when I lettered these models it was a basic lettering placement, if it's preferred I'll outline the lettering. This will push back the final a few days.
My thoughts right now are make one # with serves all the west, another with route of the streamliners and one with dependable transportation for a total of 3 units in one pkg that can be unzipped in to a file in the trainset folder or unzipped into a separate folder allowing the user to pick any combination and copy the individual models into the trainset folder. This input is great and I do appreciate it greatly as I like to provide the best I can accomodate into the paint job
Thanks!
John
