RE: CSX YN1 SD40-2's anyone?

YES!!!!!!These will be perfect for anyone wanting to simulate CSX Q347 or Q348, which run between Avon Yard and Marion, OH (by coincidence, this run will cover the entire COnrail Indianapolis Line route I'm working on).

RE: CSX YN1 SD40-2's anyone?

Still trying to master weathering. That's why none of my stuff has weathering when I post the screens And Clayton, they actually look alot better, with more details obvious, in the sim. It's just with my slow computer, I can't get the settings up high to show it But birthday and Christmas are coming Chris Denbow - Baltimore, Md.

Are the ditchlights alpha-able? Just curious. Even a ghost would be better for the older time periods. Clayton

>would be better for the older time periods. I think so Clayton. I have a "Frankenstein" SD40-2 that I've been experimenting with. I'll try it out and let you know! For the "older time periods", would you want it without the yellow ends? Just the blue/gray?Chris Denbow - Baltimore, Md.

RE: CSX YN1 SD40-2's anyone?

Actually, I'm thinking about the mid 90s (sheesh, is that old?) so both would be prototypical. You (or someone, or me) could even do the grey ghost scheme. So we'd have the grey, blue/grey, YN1, YN2, YN3 schemes and I believe that would about cover it for CSX paints/time periods. Are you having any more luck with weathering? I had a time with JD's SD40-2 until I took out the alpha channel and added painted windows from another skinner. Clayton

90's? god, it's so hard to come to terms with the fact that the 90's are technically a century past...90's seem like the 'stone age' to me

RE: CSX YN1 SD40-2's anyone?

I have plans for a "stealth" SD40-2. I was doing it custom for someone, but guess I could release it as well I haven't tried the weathering yet on these. I'm gonna get them all done, then do them all at once. That way, I can reuse the same weathered layers in PSP for each unit.Chris Denbow - Baltimore, Md.

RE: CSX YN1 SD40-2's anyone?

Chris,These SD40-2s are truly awesome...by far the best CSX units I've seen.Would you please consider some C40-8s and CW40-8s next?
Keep in mind that the 7300's are ex-Conrail and retain the factory-installed high headlights and red classification lights (a feature unique to Conrail) recessed into the nose.If you can figure out a way to do a 9000-series unit (not sure if they're CW44-8s or CW44-9s or whatever), that would be nice as well.

I'll answer for Chris He's been working on the C40-8/Ws and is waiting on NALW to finish their sound update b/f uploading them. Trust me, he'll get the numbers and details straight! Also some 9000s can be found at the A-line's homepage- -

RE: CSX YN1 SD40-2's anyone?

This is almost better than Christmas! You've got me giggling over here like a little kid! ) Hey, have you thought about doing the 7812 in Spirit of America paint? Just curious. Might not be too hard to turn a YN3 into it, but what do I know? Looking good. Clayton

RE: CSX YN1 SD40-2's anyone?

Hmmm....... 7812 hunh? That might just be one of the easiest conversion projects I'll ever do! I can do that out of one of the CW40-8's, make the gray part blue, slap the flag on the side and the "Spirit" lettering....... Thanks Clayton! That's a one night project. Maybe I'll do that after the SD40's are finished.Chris Denbow - Baltimore, Md.
