New RR for the new ADFRR – image 1

I have taken it upon myself to create a new RR for the new fictional ADFRR route......since I love creating new RR's.......just a thing with me........Now, before all of you RI fans jump all over me, yes it bears a very strong resemblance to their red, black and white livery.......that was intentional as I love that livery, well, that and the SP Black Widow, but there are enough subtle color variations, wing variations and logo changes to make it distinct, I think.....I think it is my best work to date......and it is of a GP9, also one of my favorite engines.......It's called the Midwest and Rocky Mountain, in case you can't read the side......I am terrible at taking pics from the game.........I apologize for that.......Anyway, let me know what you think.....be kind though, and if Robert likes it and if others do then I will do more engines and rolling stock in that livery and new activity creators can use my RR for the route, if they want..........New RR for the new ADFRR – image 2New RR for the new ADFRR – image 3New RR for the new ADFRR – image 4New RR for the new ADFRR – image 5TimNew RR for the new ADFRR – image 6

The logo on front is an Elk head, also one of my ideas. Tim, I am very flattered that you liked my ideas enough to use them. Excellent job on the livery that one will find its way onto my HD for sure. Now we need to come up with a steam engine herald for a tender New RR for the new ADFRR – image 22 1972

Sorry Stu, forgot about your elk idea......was a good one too....thanks so much......had a hell of a time finding something to work and then had to rework it to look right on the engine but I think it came out all right, and for the other idea as well.....hmmm, not sure about the steam engine but will think about it and see what I can come up with.........I don't think tricolors would work there.......but the black and grey probably would with the elk head.......you are giving me ideas there.........which tender would you like me to use...........Of course this will be after the FM I am starting on tonight..........Man, I have got myself into some work now.........Damn, I love this stuff.............lol...........

Tim - truly a beauty no matter where you look. And YES I would be more than happy to adopt it. Now all I need is a little Fairbanks-Morse and between those, I could park most everything else. Maybe that's why it takes me 9 hours to make a run Never figured that one out before btw, if you are still interested, I finished collecting elevations for a track screen, but haven't figured the best way to graph it yet. Did I understand correctly that you were intending to use the logo and rolling stock for the ADF? I truly hope so. That would be a big assett. Come to think about it, Midwest & Rocky Mountain has a ring to it. ADF-MRM or maybe even just the MRM. Uhmmm! It's a beauty!RobertR

New RR for the new ADFRR – image 26

Thanks for all your great comments.......spurs me on to do more in this livery....personally, I love the hell out of it, and not trying to blow my own horn here......Robert, if there is a Fairbanks Morse in the downloads I will get it and do one of those next.......There are a few subtle changes I am going to make before I make it available, like making the letters on those side a little larger so they can be better seen and a few other small fixes......should be done today........The front logo is an elk........I tried to do the best I could with it....if you see it in the game itself it is much clearer and looks much better.........I will try to get some better pics later today.....close ups........
And I am not trying to change your route name or anything.......Just thought it would be nice to have your own RR for your route.......but if you want to use it that is fine and the logo too....no problem......Yes, I will add rolling stock, the works.........might take a little time but hell I have lots of it.......
By the way, I want to thank MKT (Stuart) for helping me pick out the name last night in the chat room.........I couldn't decide if I wanted Midwest or Rocky Mountain, and he suggested combining the two and thus it was born............
Now, of course that means a major update to my website, et al.......Oh my, I have created a lot of work.......Oh well, I love it...........
Once again thank everyone for the comments and looks like there will be more M&RM to come then since Robert seems to like it........
By the way, reinstalled the route Robert and fixed my problem.....should not have run route riter I guess........my bad........Damn, I love this route!TimNew RR for the new ADFRR – image 27

Glad it is working again for you. About changing the name: if it hadn't already got out as the ADFRR I would change it in a minute. Don't think I was necessarily asking for the FM, it was just another way of saying that was beautifully done. btw, do you have any ideas how I could improve on this. Need to spread the lower numbers out, but haven't figured out yet how to do it on the spreadsheet chart. I feel like I'm color-blind when it comes to picking colors (at least that's what the kids used to say about my clothes )Any steering from anyone in the right direction would be appreciated!Just a Rough draft

New RR for the new ADFRR – image 29

Hi Robert,Gee, I am humbled by your adding the M&RM to your chart there.....I am afraid I am the last person to help you on spreadsheet charts but I am sure there are others out there who could help......actually it doesn't look bad.......Here is just a thought........not sure what you are using to get the background but if you could add a picture of my GP9 in the background would look kind of nice......or one of the pics I am uploading now......just a thought, but looks pretty good the way you have it.........I don't know perhaps someone out there with more spreadsheet skills could help you more there........Or perhaps the MRM's tricolors as a background...but I think the loco would be nice......just fade it about 50 or 60 percent and then use it for the background.......
Anyway, I have already downloaded three fairbanks morse engines, you didn't specify which one but am going to work on the Trainmaster first.....never done one so should be interesting.......Let you know how it is coming.......
Anyway here are some more pics of the new M&RM GP9 #6900 and 6902 heading west, I believe with a mixed load.........by the way, if you start from the first place on the list, better hook up three engines, damn near didn't make it up the first hill........lolNew RR for the new ADFRR – image 30New RR for the new ADFRR – image 31New RR for the new ADFRR – image 32New RR for the new ADFRR – image 33TimNew RR for the new ADFRR – image 34

I've put about as many miles on my Trainmaster as I have anything in the folder. Gives me time to look around >better hook up three engines, damn near didn't make it up

Heading east from Circus Flats takes some genuine horsepower to pull it. When I rebuilt the first 50 miles, I toned down some of the grades, but it is still a pull. Thanks for the input and help in making this come alive. RobertR

Tim, when you get some time, fill in the blank Tell me or give me a delicious one to fill in the center of this and see if this is getting close. Also, I will probably edit out the grids, so it is there 'in all its glory' There was a multiplicity of color backgrounds .. if you think another color would best highlight the pix, let me know. And once again Thanks for everything!RobertR

RE: New RR for the new ADFRR

New RR for the new ADFRR – image 36

Ok Robert,Been looking it over carefully......If I had it here it would be easier then I could experiment, but it isn't bad........I kind of like the background multi-color as you have it.......see no problem there.......The pink or whatever color in the graph though has gotta go.......I suggest a dark grey or black.....not a solid black but almost black.....The lettering at the top is ok but would give it a shadow, if you can do that......if not then an italicized lettering or the lettering I use in my livery......if you can do that, maybe you can't....the lettering is Black Chancery, but that is not a big deal if you can italicize it I think it would look better, oh, and change the MRM to M&RM.........Now as for a pic in the center.......what size of picture do you need? I will run the consist I have made and take about 8 shots and see which one would look the best in there....or I will send them to you and let you pick it out......either way..........oh, and yes, if you can get rid of the grid lines that would be better too.......
These are just thoughts as I look at it..........but, hey you don't need me to tell you what you should do with it.......it's your baby....These are just suggestions..........Overall it doesn't look bad, other than the pink in the graph..........It is kind of hard without it here to experiment on a little, but these are my thoughts at the moment........
Hope this helps,
Have started on the FM but am not starting with the Trainmaster, sorry.....I looked over the ace files and this is totally different than anything I have done before so started on a smaller FM first and see how that goes........spent about three hours on it and it is all wrong.......so have to change it all over.......It's a little more difficult working with a model you haven't worked with before, but it isn't a big deal.......I have all the stripes much too high so will just have to lower them to where they belong.......I will be gone tomorrow but will work on it Sunday and hopefully have it done by Monday at the latest.........Now that I can see what I need to do with it, should go fairly easily from here on..........Strange looking engine but kinda neat too........
Anyway, sorry to make this a long reading......hope these ideas help.......let me know.........especially the size pic you need.....
Take care, and glad to help..........Anytime..........and thanks for being so kind as to accept my new RR model..TimNew RR for the new ADFRR – image 37

If you tell me how to get it to you, I'd be glad to send a copy. It's way to big right now, but I can shrink the size before reprinting it.>lettering is Black Chancery, but that is not a big deal if

Ok Robert, I think it looks good just as it is with of course a background pic......I will do a few today and post them here........they won't be the right size but pick out the one you want and then I will email it to you in the size you want........You don't need to send me the file........I think it looks good the way it is........
By the way, 3dTrains has given their blessing for the GP9 version to be uploaded so I will upload it today to my site and then to Train-sim......Of course it will be available much quicker on my site.....lol.......I am going to put two cvf files in the cabview, one with the GP38 and one with the HINOSE GP9 for those who have it.....I recommend this Hinose cabview........you can get it here at train-sim.........Just thought it would be easier for those who don't have the hinose yet to alias it to the one everyone has.......And thanks again and now you have me wondering about the big surprise.......Hmmm.....And finally a very happy birthday to you...........have a nice day of it........me, I don't want anymore, but that is because I am too damned old already........except when I play this game, and I feel like a kid again...........lol........Take care and keep an eye out for the pics and get the GP9.......after that will get back to work on the FM........busy, busy busy.........TimNew RR for the new ADFRR – image 40

Tim, I'm on my way to get them now. They are gorgeous, if that non-prototypical term may be used in this context. Can't wait!A big Thanks also from here to 3dTrains for their permission allowing you to offer these to us.I didn't want another birthday, but they just seem to keep coming .. faster and faster I might add! Between my one 2 1/2 yr old grandson and trains, I can forget a few of these years occasionally, if you know what I mean.Tim, take a break .. you're going to need one RobertR

That looks fine for a picture Robert.......I might blur it just a little as it looks a little out of focus........maybe it is just me......Try it and see anyway........Otherwise, I have no problem with it..........I think it will fly the way it is.........Glad you like the GP9's.........They look better in the game, don't they? Good idea to have three of them pulling though, as I tried two and got bogged down at the begginning........lol.......
Have not got back to the FM reskin today but will tonight.....Have been having some problem with my teeth the last couple of days........Oh for some money to fix them.....oh well.........
Anyway, Thanks for asking and I say go for it...........It's your baby........you bundle it the way you like......... And it is a very nice baby too..........
Will post some pics of the FM when I get it done.........Hopefully by tomorrow........if I don't end up in the emergency room before hand.......I hate toothaches............lol......TimNew RR for the new ADFRR – image 43

Tim, the focus is just the by-product of an older ATI card I tried to keep the red trimmed hand-rails, but when I convert it to jpg, it loses them everytime. If the loading ace is converted from a bmp, the clarity might be better as it was very clear and detailed orignally.Take care of the teeth .. or they bite back .. and hard I might add!RobertR

Sounds good then Robert.........I like it.......
As for my teeth, they are beyond help........If I wasn't such a wimp I would yank them out myself........Damn dental costs!.......it's outrageous......and the VA looks at me and smiles....sorry, we don't do teeth........If I had an arm in this shape, I bet they would cut if off for me.........lol
Anyway, am getting through the FM but going a lot harder than I thought........I just think it is my unfamiliarity with the engine.......not hard, just time consuming getting the lines in the right place........and not knowing where that is on the engine......oh well....I will get it.......I assure you....Just a matter of time..........
