May-31-02, 01:58 PM (EDT) "Looking for texture help on steamer" LAST EDITED ON May-31-02 AT 02:06 PM (EDT)I have begun to make a little progress on my steam locomotive, but I am quite an amatuer when it comes to texturing/artwork. I am able to create a pretty basic texture, but would welcome any help in bettering my textures. What I am asking for is someone to improve my textures once I have them created and mapped to the loco OR if someone is really eager to work with me, I'd welcome the help in creating/suggesting as we go. I just don't want to release a loco that looks like garbage with all the superior looking engines that are becoming available by NALW, TA, Fozzy & his great group, and the many private designers out there. This loco is going to take me a lot of time to finish. I estimate I am only 60% done with the modeling at this point and I only have about 10 hours a week to devote, so this is not a rush project. I am working directly from a lot of reference material and am trying very hard to make a true-to-prototype model. My Grandfather was a fireman on these in the 40's and ran from Portsmouth, OH to Columbus, OH almost daily, so I have a strong connection with this loco and want to do it right. I expect this to take at least a couple months to finish, so don't expect miracles. Even if you are able to help a month or two from now, it would be appreciated and welcomed, since this is no quick project. I'd like to hear from someone if they can help. I am certainly no expert and would welcome some partners in any aspect from textures to sound to ENG files to modeling help.BTW, the wheel textures are not mine, and will not be used for the final model. They were only used to make the loco presentable right now. They are from the Erie Consolidation by Clifford Timm & StudioX Designs. I also have an N&W Cf class caboose, which is ready to distribute, as well as a 2-bay hopper, which is nearly ready to distribute. I hope to release these at the same time as a group so that a prototypical train can be run. Kind of like a passenger train set. These locos regularly pulled 125 car coal trains, but were equipped with steam heat and signals for passenger service. During the war these locos pulled troop trains and passenger trains, as well. And I don't think I need to mention excursion service in the 80's and 90's. (oops, just did)
I hope someone is interested, and thanks for considering helping me,
Mike
