May-12-02, 09:41 PM (EDT) "Acela upgrade!!" I have done this same project once before but, now that I have more experience I can refrain from using the old MSpaint style. Today I decided I would work on a better skin for the acela. Everybody knows the acela skin from MS sucks. It's at a very early stage and only one side of the loco is painted. P.S. Don't worry about the other areas; from the red line to the end is what I have painted.

The only criticism I can come up with is the nose looks too pointed and consequently the blue looks like it is coming to a vee instead of a u.....------Chuck Schneider---------

That's what someone told me, at least..Can't remember who; just that i heard it..Or have I missed something and someone already made an update for that?

We are pretty backed up with expansion packs to the F40, GE-Hood Units E60 and AEM7 not to mention the EMUs and Cab Cars! And there is that whole "steam thing" going on in the back room!

Also, when you do the roof, correct it from the straight blue to the 'wave' shape. Thats the one thing I noticed about the Kuju model. Other than that it looks pretty good so far.If anybody is redoing the Acela, save time, redo the passenger cars, because I personally think the loco is 'reasonably' good. The cars are just plain awful, they are the wrong height, the wrong profile and the bistro car has the windows at the wrong height. The loco can be fixed with texture changes. Yes the Acela is a TERRIBLE MODEL!, the passenger wagons are total crap. Anyways here is some updated progress. Don't worry about the sudden changes in colors. That sort of thing is tough to work out.

Hey,dyvach!In your modler will it convert to .3ds or will it convert to an file that can then be converted to .3ds? list all the types of files your program can convert, export and save as. If it can convert to .3ds then we are saved! MSTS can convert .3ds models directly to .s file, the MSTS shape. Lets hope that the masterpiece before us can soon be in MSTS!-Nhtrain

May-16-02, 06:41 PM (EDT) 15. "RE: Acela upgrade!!" The model is imported into 3ds Max for final export to Trainz format, so i can save it from there as either Max4 scene, or export to .3ds. I can't however use that .3ds file to make msTS model myself, because as i understand it, it'd have to be broken up into some specifically named and parented parts, plus some config files have to be written for it.... and i don't really have enough free time to research that. If no one else can do it, maybe i'll try when i'm done with the complete set... (the loco + carriages) Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

The HSEL6 locomotives/power cars on either end have different #s ...Similarly have you fixed the lights or do you want some help with that??????

Installer, Physics, sounds and review....
I also tried to get you two guys to hook up as you both had excellent ideas... just in different places....
My thing is that the Acela Express is my #1 Grandson's favorite engine (on odd# days on even# days its the Genny) and I want it and the HHP to be as good as they can be....
I spent tonight trying to figure a way to "hack" the S files so that the cars were the correct size (one of them is and the others are not).... with out screwing up the textures....
No luck so Far....The Offer still holds...
