Apr-14-02, 10:06 AM (EST) 1. "RE: To JAKE KULIK: WWWWWWOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!!" Kelley,
Almost all of the credit for fly47v2 goes to Robert K. Guy.....he approached me with the concept of having 3 models ( for 3 different altitudes ). I said "great", sent him the TSM .dst files, and he did the rest, including the excellent sounds, which had me stumped. He knows his stuff.......
I was actually thinking of a Bell Jet Ranger to do next, because I've been trying to get Chip Buchanan to develop the Huey on his site into MSTS.......it's a work of art and I couldn't model anything near that quality. Chip's been busy with his 4 axle EMD line, but after he finishes those I hope he'll import his model...
One more thing: It's been my great fortune to work with two splendid individuals in my short 3D modelling career. Chuck Hebert's work was magnificent for both my Steam and Modern Rotary Snowplows ( as well as the passenger view on my Atlas Hy-Rail crane ), and Bob's work with the Bell 47 gives everyone a chance to do an aerial survey of any route they have ( although it does get interesting around tunnels! ) at 3 different altitudes, plus it no longer sounds like a GP38. Both of these projects reinforce my feeling that the MSTS community at Train-Sim.com are the best people in the world. Nels' site gives everyone a chance to contribute on any skill level, and our common interest in trains benefits from this - look at the amount of downloads we have to choose from in less than one year!

Apr-14-02, 03:04 PM (EST) 3. "RE: To JAKE KULIK: WWWWWWOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!!" Hey Jake,Yes, congrats on your fine chopper! As always, your work continues to show lots of imagination not to mention being fun to have in the sim.I think my old UH-1 Huey may be too polygon-heavy to import into MSTS, but if you're not busy with the JetRanger, I'll pass it over and see if you can work your magic! cheers,
Chip

Apr-14-02, 05:34 PM (EST) 4. "RE: To JAKE KULIK: WWWWWWOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!!" I have been using version 1 and enjoyed the change in elevation on a route. I was surprised on version 2 that the higher altitude model does not loose the terrain view when transiting short tunnels that you are higher than the hill. I have gotten used to the display shifting when entering tunnels. I think the new set is great. The effect with the enhanced helo wav file is a slick add. Keep up the great work.Richard Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-14-02, 11:16 PM (EST) 5. "For us "Old Farts"......." If anyone remembers the original run of this TV series, then this picture should be familiar:
Ken Tobey ( Chuck Martin, piloting 75Bravo in the above picture ) is still alive and kicking...he actually flew in a model 47 at a "roundup" last April, so these are for him:
It was "Whirlybirds" that inspired me to get my rotary license. Also, you can't quite tell from the pic, but the "N" number on my model is N975B
Happy Flying, Ken.....

Apr-15-02, 01:51 AM (EST) 6. "RE: For us "Old Farts"......." Hi Chip and Jake, If you can make the UH-1 work, Ill even fly it if it gives me 1FPS!!!! Hueys are special to me, as is the jet ranger. My Beast-friend for all my life works on the Army Kiowa (long ranger) Blackhawks and Hueys. PLus, I got to fly in one in the co-pilots seat!!! Even took the stick. but, shhhhhhh!!!! Its a secret!!! (Hueys don't fly, they beat the air into submission!!!)BTW Jake, did you remove the lights from her? I didn't see them after the update. THANK YOU AGAIN GUYS!@!!!

Apr-15-02, 05:10 AM (EST) 7. "RE: For us "Old Farts"......." Kelley,
Actually, Bob modified the lights so that they flash at a 90 degree angle to the cabin, which is why you don't see them in the rear headout view, but if you catch a side view you'll see the effect........
PS - there isn't any other feeling like rotary flight ( especially when you're learning and can't coordinate sticks, pedals, and power ( although with turbines power isn't that much of a problem anymore.....).
