Apr-09-02, 06:53 AM (EST) "New Canadian government grain hopper: comments/suggestions please " Hello
I've been working on this Candian government repaint of John Peterson's ACF hopper. I saw one like this in a model train shop and wanted one for MSTS. I've made this by adapting a texture from Maple Leaf Tracks' new texture pack to this car. I still have a little work on this, but would like some feedback on what you think. Please post any suggestions. Thanks
Grizzly

Apr-09-02, 09:31 AM (EST) 2. "Spell check!!" its WINNIPEG.. other than that, pretty decent. I'm not sure that that paint scheme actually existed,as I have never seen a pic of it, but you might have better info than I.. For some grain car variety, you might wnat to check out the Alberta "Heritage" schemes...
cheers
Harold

Apr-09-02, 11:51 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Spell check!!" DOH!!!!!!!!!! I hate it when I do that! I'm glad I didn't upload it yet, that would have been embarassing! I'm not sure if this paint job really existed either, Harold. Like I say it's based roughly on a Canadian govt. hopper model I saw in a train shop. The one I saw in the shop was one of the cylindrical ones, though.Grizzly

Apr-10-02, 12:59 PM (EST) 7. "RE: New Canadian government grain hopper: comments/suggestions please " Hey, While were on the subject of "not sure if it ever existed" paint schemes. How do people feel about "what if" paint schemes? For example, a while ago I built a Pressurized Carbon Dioxide tank car that was owned originally by Liquid Carbonic (LCIX). Liquid Carbonic was purchased by Praxair at the time my photo's of the car were taken. "IF" the car were then repainted by Praxair, it might have been given a face-lift with that really cool praxair logo.Since my tank car was kind of *dull* being just black text on white, I put a Praxair logo on it and loved the result. For me, it's personal enjoyment. Is this car just for me, or should I share the repaint with others?Pete Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-10-02, 01:19 PM (EST) 8. "RE: New Canadian government grain hopper: comments/suggestions please " Normally, I only run protoype stuff only (because I like to railfan on MSTS more than run the train), but I did get Justin Cornell's V&O SD40-2. That loco looks great, plus, thanks to Model Railroader, the V&O seems like it was an actual railroad instead of a model. I use it as run-through power (third unit in the lashup) on one of my CSX unit coal drags I run occasionally.Just my preference. And Homer Simpson says "DOH! The episode where Lisa's sax gets destroyed was on last night, and in the inscription on her sax, it said something, something, Daddy's little DOH! Chris Denbow - Baltimore, Md.

"RE: New Canadian government grain hopper: comments/suggestions please " Here's what I mean by prettying up the prototype with a "what if" scheme.(Be nice these are my first repaints and the only available snapshots. I know the scaling is wrong and I fixed it since the picture was taken)Proto:
