Mar-31-02, 05:56 PM (EST) 1. "RE: adding t your roster" I do not unzip my new dowloads right to TS folder. I download everything to a new folder I created just for that. If you are using XP right click and expand in the folder you downloaded it to. After I do that I move the zip file to a subfolder called added, This holds all my zip files I have installed. I then edit the eng or wag file to add a name or fix the couplers, alias the sounds, etc. I also look in the sd file to make sure it is pointing to the correct s file. Then I move the folder to the trains subfolder where it can be used. It pays to have a system to add new rolling stock and such to TS. It keeps it clear what has been installed and what has not. There are other ways to do it, just find a way you like and stick with it.Kevin Arceneaux Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: adding t your roster" I addition to Kevin's excellent advice, you will also need to generate a consist for the locomotive or car to appear on the menu screen for you to drive. There are some ways to do this more easily, but without additional files, you just go into the activity editor and carefully follow the process to generate a consist. The editor is a little tricky, you must give it a time and the 2 description boxes need something in them ("hi" will do if you don't want to to write a description, it just needs an entry). Be careful about removing equipment files once you create a consist. There are several tricks which can be used to eliminate the error messages that will result if you do remove files, search the forums for more detailed advice as you encounter questions, more than likely they have been asked and answered several times.

Mar-31-02, 10:20 PM (EST) 3. "RE: adding t your roster" Thanks Bob, Try conbuilder, it is a little more forgiving than AE, but you do not get the picture of the car.
What you can do, and this is a fair amount of work if you have a lot of cars and engines is add a name to all of your rolling stock: for example, for a Boston and Maine boxcar -
Name ( "B&Mbox 77318" )
after the sound line in the wag file. For my names I list the RR first, what type of car and then the raod number. I edited the eng files and did the same. I like having the RR first as then it groups then by RR. this way I am not dependant on the picture tell what car it is. But this is part of my system for installing addonsso it doesn't take a lot of time except for redoing the already installed rolling stock.Kevin Arceneaux Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
