Mar-26-02, 06:15 PM (EST) "Skin Installing help" I have just completed the download for the Budd RDC repaints, and would like to use them, plus the old ones, so i renamed each skin to w/e it was supposed to be, put each skin in it's own directory and then copied over the shape, eng, cab, and sound files from the original Budd RDC. I modified the .eng file so that they we're no longer called what the original was, but rather, New York, of Pennsylvania, like so: comment( fuel_level )
EngineVariables ( 210 )
Sound ( "k31cab.sms" )
Name ( "NYRR1 Budd RDC1 BM" )
Description (I used the consist builder I downloaded to create the consist, but when i went to run them in MSTS, they were under the original Budd RDC, and when I started, the skins were not of the new ones, PLEASE HELP! -Jesse Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

1. Copy the original Budd folder and give it another name, eg:
WV&OBudd.
Now the next steps need to be done in that new folder:
2. Rename each .eng file to a new name
3. Do the same with each .s and .sd file
IMPORTANT: afterwards you should have sets of an .eng, .sd and .s file with the same name for the extension.
Eg:
You have a set of rdc1_via.eng, rdc1_via.s and rdc_via.sd.
You can rename this set to rdc1_wvo.eng, rdc1_wvo.s and rdc1_wvo.sd
4. Now edit the .sd file with Wordpad and change the name of the .s file to the new name.
SIMISA@@@@@@@@@@JINX0t1t______
Shape ( RDC1_VIA.s
ESD_Detail_Level ( 0 )
ESD_Alternative_Texture ( 0 )
ESD_Bounding_Box ( -1.599695 0.000831 -13.059768 1.600305 4.456965 13.060232 )
)
The line after Shape should changed to - in this case - rdc1_wvo.s
5. Edit every .eng file with Wordpad and search for the old name and change that to the new name. This are about 4 or 5 places.
6. Finally copy the downloaded .ace files into the folder overwriting the old ones.I can imagine that is something too much.
As I want to drive the WV&O cars by myself and want to keep the VIA cars, I have to create a set of new .eng, .s, .sd files.
I can send that set by email to you, it will take about 2 days or, if there are more people interested, upload them.
Give me an email if you are interested. Dick van den Hoven
