Mar-17-02, 02:47 PM (EST) "My first re-paint & some questions" Hi All ..This is a shot of my first attempt at painting ..I chose to repaint the F-45 Prototype by Kevin Shea ( Cadman ) because I liked the model, and I wanted a F-45 loco for my Superior South Shore route. I have several questions about protocol below the pic.
Model by Kevin Shea ( Cadman )
Physics by Chris Lee
Lights by Tim Kent reworked by Kevin Shea
re-paint by OboeQuestions:1. Should I get permission from the model author to post a screenshot ?2. When a screen shot is posted like this one, whom should I acknowledge. ( The author of the model, or everyone involved in the model. )3. If someone asks me to upload a re-skin to the train-sim files area, how should I go about getting permission from the original author, and do I need permission from everyone involved in the original model.4. Answers to any questions about this stuff that I don't know enough about to ask ? oboe Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

First, read the documents that came with your download carefully. If the file is publc domain, you can feel free do do anything with it you please. if it is copyrighted (Freeware is a copyright) then the author or authors will have stated restrictions on how to handle the file. Follow those directions.
Remember also, when was the last time you heard someone say "I really am angry you thanked me so much"?? Everyone appreciates recognition for their work, and you can't go wrong being too appreciative, especially if it is sincere. It takes little extra time to mention all the people that were involved in a project.
Hope this helps,

Mar-19-02, 06:09 PM (EST) 2. "RE: My first re-paint & some questions" Thanks Bob:Sage advice, and very well written. I have repainted and created my first train now, and posted it in the route forum where I spend most of my time.
http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/4127.htmlI have learned to almost hate the "Alpha channel", but I think I'm getting the hang of it.Thanks to all here who have written tutorials. They helped me more than you will ever know.oboe Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
