Feb-20-02, 07:33 AM (EST) "Glossy Paint Finish with PSP?" I'm reskinning an E8 to the old Erie RR Diesel Paint scheme for the Erie Limited. I'd like to get a semi gloss or gloss finish (at least to the nose of the cab) but can't figure out how using PaintShopPro. Anyone offer any tips?? ... Maybe it involves using the histogram??

Feb-20-02, 08:19 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Glossy Paint Finish with PSP?" One of the easiest methods is to use layers, and set transparency on them for the reflected parts:1) Add a layer to your locomotive skin file
2) Ensure you save the file with the *.psp extension for later editing
3) Find a nice photo of a landscape...Generally one that's clear, and that the horizon is relatively straight
4) Working with the new layer, use the crop tool to enclose an area of one of the panels as seen below the layer you're working on
5) Copy the photo into the selected area
6) Repeat for all or some of the panels as desired
7) Set the transparency of the new layer to 10 or 20% (I use 8%), or until you get the results you like
8) Select "Save Copy As..." from the PSP file dropdown to a new BMP or TGA fileThose are the basics, and keeps the original work free from defects when applying effects in PSP...Hope that helps. Cheers!
