Feb-15-02, 01:09 AM (EST) "Looking for skinner" I enjoy the 3d modeling process of making add-ons but I hate the texturing process. I was wondering if anybody would be interested in teaming up with me to produce add-on locomotives and rolling stock. My favorites are Western Pacific, Southern Pacific, Pennsylvania, and Great Northern, all in the late steam early diesel era. Currently I work in TSM but I am starting to work with 3dc.The voice of insanity in a seemingly normal world. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-15-02, 03:07 PM (EST) 9. "RE: Looking for skinner" What really bad Chris is that I am an engineer who CANNOT draw a striaght line w/o a ruler and a circle without a compass, but put me in the field with a roll of duct tape and bailing wire and it will get fixed. The office-type engineers have a heart attack when the see it, but, hey it worked.Kevin Arceneaux Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-15-02, 11:16 PM (EST) 17. "RE: Looking for skinner" That's why I like drafting class, no freehand. I was watching a show on the History Channel and they were showing drafting tables and such and my 10 year old didn't know waht they were for. Had to take him to work where I have one in my office, nobody else wanted it, and show him. My slide rules too.Kevin Arceneaux Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-15-02, 11:50 PM (EST) 19. "RE: Looking for skinner" I grew up in the computer age, but I like to use slide rules for a lot of things. For starters I don't have to worry about malfunctions or batteries that decide to go bad at the wrong time. I have one of those fancy graphing calculators that casts about $30 every time it needs new batteries which is way too often. I got started learning to use a slide rule when I bought a book on math for electorincs at a used book store. I wanted to get something old enough to have performance tables for vaccuum tubes as I was working with guitar amp design at the time. Not only did it have the infor on tubes but it had lessons on how to use a slide rule that progressed through out the book. Now I find that I prefer the slide rule to the calculator. The voice of insanity in a seemingly normal world. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-15-02, 04:06 PM (EST) 12. "RE: Looking for skinner" So it looks like there's quite a bit of interest. So do we wanna form a Virtual EMD or what? With my interest in Amtrak I've been thinking of founding a Virtual Beech Grove...lol. I think it'd be cool to work in cooperation, not competition, with NALW and TA and whoever pops up. Suggestions, ideas?Blake Harris

Feb-15-02, 07:28 PM (EST) 13. "RE: Looking for skinner" Here's what we should (not must) do. Decide on the railroad first of course, and then we decide on the project. After that, we should all find which assignments are best for each person. Everyone should exchange E-mail addresses so we can get things done without having to post on the forum. Good idea? Bad idea? Tell me what you think... Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-15-02, 09:03 PM (EST) 15. "RE: Looking for skinner" Thanks to everybody who responded. My email address is c_bonelli@hotmail.com . As I said in the post that started this all I am thinking of switching to 3d canvas and I think that should be the program used for any models, that way since the basic version is free those who only do skins or engine files could open the project file without having to buy a program like TSM or 3d max. I personally would like to stick with doing the 3d modeling portion and leave the painting and .eng and .wag files to somebody else. Also even though I prefer to work with WP, SP, PRR, and GN in the late steam early diesel era. I would be willing to do modern diesels for any road in order to get my work painted. I should say first off that I am not as good as the guys at TrainArtisan, but I am new to the 3d world and am learning. The voice of insanity in a seemingly normal world. Feb-15-02, 11:32 PM (EST) 18. "RE: Looking for skinner" I'm sposed to have done a skin for the TA F unit...but haven't started on it yet *(FEH probably never will)* but right now I have no major projects. Personally I just do what strikes my fancy. Railroad wise however, I've always leaned toward the ones least represented on the boards. The underdogs if you will. I plan to do a few more GN skins though...something about that brown/green and orange just looks great on a loco. Thought about doing a PO&N genesis...but don't feel like messing with the minor details at this time. (Bleagh)Still, if you need reach me I can skin most everything. Just drop a grey undec skin on it, and drop me a pic and I'll make it...and if I can't I'll get durn close. again, that email is critterwerks@yahoo.com my back up is duo@cybersouth.com Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
