Feb-13-02, 10:00 PM (EST) "Repaint of CSX SD70MAC in the new scheme" I decided to play around with Jagos (TA) SD70MAC to see what it would look like in the new livery. This scheme is kind of growing on me.(slowly). Since Jago gave us permission to repaint the SD70, and this repaint is actually based on a previous repaint by John Peterson, I have emailed John for permission in case anyone wants it. I'm just trying to do the right thing. Dot the i's and cross the t's. Kyle P.S. the background is from the great Marias 3.<Message Areas - "Repaint of CSX SD70MAC in the new scheme" – image 1>

Feb-13-02, 10:40 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Repaint of CSX SD70MAC in the new scheme" Well, it isn't Conrail blue and it isn't...
But it looks like... well, no, it doesn't...
CSX copied it from... well, no, they didn't...
That looks like a ripoff of...Heck, that paint scheme may grow on me...It looks just fine, Kyleh24! Nice repaint!I'm just having trouble with the changes in the East Coast railroad scene. I'm still a phart that really enjoyed experiencing the Conrail-and-predecessor RRs, y'know? D&H, EL, LV, RDG, L&HR, and PC predecessors NYC, PRR, etc. But I'm almost liking the CSX and NS...The operative word is almost. And before I forget, Thank You to all the builders and skinners, for all the hours you've created MSTS stuff. Your work has truly made this sim. jfroth1

Feb-13-02, 11:21 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Repaint of CSX SD70MAC in the new scheme" O.K. Here is the next question. I have only submitted reskinned ACE files in the past. It would be easiest for those of you who download my file, if I created the whole package, like John Peterson and Don Shriner did on theirs. But I vaguely remember a thread on if it is permissable to redristribute the ".S file". I think it was the F7A model or something like that. And also, does Train Artisan want you to "not" include their custom cab?
If so the Dash9.cvf would have to do. Can someone with the Train Artisan group reply? I am emailing this question to John also, but would like Train Artisans response so all will know their position on this model. I'll do whichever, but thought the downloader would rather have an easier to use package. Kyle Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-14-02, 04:36 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Repaint of CSX SD70MAC in the new scheme" I can reply but I'm not exactly the "team athority" on the subject. You'd be best off emailing Cyrus. You can email him from the TA website.
One of your questions is a given though: We haven't made a cabview for the SD70 yet so the Dash9 is what we use. I know it won't be a problem to offer it in the downloads section as long as all the documents that come with the original are included. Then you can add your own for the paint scheme. This is the way I've seen most reskinners do it.
The new scheme is going to have to grow on me as well. The job you've done looks great but the new CSX units are so..... BLUE. Hehe. Great job, I hope to see more.-Jago-

Feb-14-02, 07:27 PM (EST) 8. "RE: Repaint of CSX SD70MAC in the new scheme" Thanks, I was just confused on the cab issue. I had written Cyrus earlier but I know how busy he is. Meanwhile John Peterson forwarded to me the exact answer that Cyrus gave him on his previous request. So it looks as though it won't be a problem to zip up the whole loco. Feb-14-02, 09:34 PM (EST) 10. "RE: Repaint of CSX SD70MAC in the new scheme" OK, now it's back to being ugly again! At least the "tail problem" for reskinning this loco has been resolved with this new paint scheme. Hmmm, maybe THAT'S the real reason CSX decided to repaint their locos. . . Feb-14-02, 09:37 PM (EST) 11. "RE: Repaint of CSX SD70MAC in the new scheme" Hey, I was just looking at that pic again and I noticed the tail of the lead loco is completely yellow with no "bleed" onto the sides of the radiator fans. Whose C40-8/9 model is that and/or how did you get the tail yellow with no bleeding?!?!?A very curious

Feb-14-02, 10:08 PM (EST) 12. "RE: Repaint of CSX SD70MAC in the new scheme" It is a model of -Justin Cornell aka NorfolkSouthern_37 that he released a long time ago. I think the file was Dash9BNSF.zip. I can't remember if I got it from here or not, but his version is the one that fixed the nose height. He recently posted that an updated version is in the works. ( I can't wait ). See the post at <http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID3/6261.html>
I wont be posting my skin until after all that happens and I get with him for permision anyway. Obviously it took alot of work on the .s file. I do like that cab windows in his version. I'm hoping he put see-thru glass in the next one, which would make it perfect. Kyle

Feb-14-02, 10:34 PM (EST) 13. "RE: Repaint of CSX SD70MAC in the new scheme" Yes, yes. . .I remember his model, and I even downloaded it to try to repaint it to CSX colors, but ran into the same problem with it that I had with the first model. That is, when I tried to paint the whole tail yellow, it ended up painting the sides of the radiator fans yellow, too. The area was mapped together. I thought the update that you mention was going to fix this problem, too. So I'm curious how the model in your picture got a yellow tail, but retained the gray on the sides of the radiators. Any clues? Maybe I missed something. . .Still curious

Feb-14-02, 11:13 PM (EST) 14. "RE: Repaint of CSX SD70MAC in the new scheme" Sorry about that. You are correct. It seems that my repaint uses an updated .s file from Bryan Jones nose fix. Dsh9nose.zip Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
