Feb-08-02, 01:22 AM (EST) "Rock Island GP35 Update" Hey all
Maybe I'll get through with these things one day. Just thought I would update you all. My orginal plans for 2 units have multiplied by 3 and one more is going through the paint booth tomorrow. They are: 305,307,309,323,327,333, and one more that will be maroon with RI shields and no lettering, like 312. The only different paint scheme left is the 311 one of a kind, so I guess I should go ahead and do that one too. heres some more screenshots.

Have fun

Feb-08-02, 01:31 AM (EST) 1. "RE: Rock Island GP35 Update" Those are looking great, how about one with no weathering? Do you think that the paint I used for my SW1500 reskin is a little dark? It was under a post called 'The first Unit out of the Paint Shor' or something similar...Keep 'em coming!!!

Feb-08-02, 02:04 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Rock Island GP35 Update" No, the color looks fine. It just depends on what time frame you are modelling in (or painting in i guess). I think your color is right on for a fairly new sw1500. As for the GP35's It seems to me like they were delivered in about the same color as the sw1500's, but over time grime would turn some parts darker, while oxidation would turn other parts lighter. Its kinda hard to find two RI units that match in color. They were all painted at different times and probably very rarely recieved a bath. Then you have to factor in everyone's perception of color. Ask the Rock Island Technical Society list what color to use for RI maroon, and usually everyone will right back with a slightly different color. So that's my opinion, there may be others, but you can't please everyone, so go with your instinct.
If you haven't got those handrails fixed try asking Mark Toland. He may be willing to make a patch for you. Chip Buchanan at Dekosoft has been working great with me on the GP35. He released a patch for the nose (not solely for me), and he is working on another patch for the handrails so that the rails can be gray and the stanchions maroon.
good luck

Set looks good, nice variaty....what are you going to end up doing, a paint job for each road#??.....
While my one project is currently suspended, (due to owner revisions) I have found good pics for one of a different style that I might start on...., or I might "transfer" to something else...Matt
