Jan-28-02, 07:29 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Texas & Pacific GP7" I had relatives all along the T&P mainline and saw them in action a lot. The Texas and Pacific E7s were impressive on the front of the passenger trains as well. Now if we just had a flat high speed route with prickly pear and mesquite and sand, we would look like the real thing.

Jan-30-02, 11:15 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Texas & Pacific GP7" The Texas & Pacific GP7 repainted By Phil Andre is now available in the downloads section. Texas & Pacific Rairoad spanned Texas and Louisiana from El Paso in the west to New Orleans in the east. It was the major RR connecting the Fort Worth metropolitian hub to Abilene, Big Spring, Midland, and Odessa, as well as El Paso prior to its merger with Missouri Pacific in 1976.
Phil has done a remarkable job in capturing this livery in the repaint. It uses the 3D Trains model and has GP7 V4.1 physics. The #1110 was the first GP7 owned by the RR from their original order delivered in 1950. Try a load of oil cars or some of Chris Pearce's T&P boxcars to add a flavor of the prototypical RR. Thanks again to Phil Andre. GREAT WORK!! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-31-02, 10:24 AM (EST) 5. "RE: Texas & Pacific GP7" I lived in El Paso in the late sixties and early seventies, but didn't really appreciate the T&P E-units back then. (Didn't appreciate the NdeM Centipedes across the border either. DOH!)I know a number of swell gentlemen who worked on the T&P at various times in the 20th century and it sounds like it was a great railroad. And I agree, that route would be very nice to run on. I remember seeing MP freights racing between Big Spring and Midland at better than 60 mph on my many tips along I-20.Henry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
