Jan-24-02, 06:25 PM (EST) "I Need Help" I would like to thank each and everyone of you that have put your time and effort into the work that makes us all enjoy MSTS even more. I have a request if there is anyone of you artists out there might be willing to help me. I have tried to repaint bmps and I cannot for the life of me get the hang of it. I guess I am used to the old airbrush and compressor. I have a request id someone has time or the energy. I moved away from my family and friends to be with my wife in another part of the country. In so doing I had lost my main hobby. That was model railroading. We had a 16*40 layout in my brother's basement and it was a lot of enjoyment. Unfortunately, now I cannot even have a 4*8... we have no room. I had painted several locomotives in the the fictional TCR (Terence Canyon Railway) a subsidary of the KMMR (Kendom Modular Model Railroad, now defunct). I was planning on doing mostly GP's, switchers, and maybe an SD40-2. I never got to the switchers adn the SD's. These are the following pictures of the shells that I have.

sorry if it is a little overweathered... is there such a thing?
the two main colors are black and almond.

This is the GP38 #90. I know it is hard to tell but that is flourescent orange. I know it would be real hard to get flourescent and with the weathering it is just orange.
As you can see there is not much to them, very simple... 1 inch masking tape on the shells.
I am in a bind, Iff anyone might be interested in do these I would be forever in your debt. (figurative not literally)
Thanks in advance

Jan-24-02, 07:42 PM (EST) 1. "RE: I Need Help" Man, It is unbelieveable the number of model railroaders migrating to MSTS! Hey, I'm a model railroader too! I migrated over from Flight Simulator 2000, though! I just couldn't get the hang of repainting the planes though, the textures either screwed up (like snow on the TV), or changed to weird colors!
Well welcome to the trainset in your computer! you won't need a huge room or a basement, and all the repainting and engine building tools are inside! Just use the mouse instead of a spraygun!
I would do it for you, but with a full-time job and only getting four to six hours on the computer each night trying to crank out repaints, well, I haven't run a real train run in TS since before Christmas last year. But look, repainting isn't all that hard to do!
If you get Paint Shop Pro, or PhotoShop, you can use layers, dump a can of paint on your layer, and then back off on its opacity, and you have your airbrush! Or, you can get more maticulous and use varying opaqness of paintbrushes. Using many of these layers and varing them will produce different effects.
Next download the TGATOOL2, and the MSTSmakeaceinterface.exe so you can convert them back to textures! A must!
If you have a scanned picture of you favorite model you can slap it on the side of a sim model in some cases!
Any way, it's not all as big a learning curve as you would think, just using a different tool, is all. Check out the tutorials at Trainartisan.com and 3DTrains.com, both very useful!
Good Luck and lemme know how it goes!db
