Jan-10-02, 01:03 AM (EST) "All these bright as new Locos and Boxcars!!" Hey Guys as a HO moddeller of 40 years, can I tell you that this MSTS is the best! But I got to say that it is not very REAL!
I love those new E8's (thank You again Jens_Chris) but the reflection from the new paint all over is just too much for these old eyes to bear.
Can I make a suggestion that will probably not cost you all that much extra time, and lets face it $200 Au buys us a 40 gig H/D these days so we have the space....Please when you post a nice clean new loco, can you post a couple more with weathering! and also different numbers. Even when Santa Fe were keeping their Locos clean, they were dulled down and the roof was very dirty.
Same with the rolling stock, perhaps with the exception of the stainless steel cars!
Anyway I got my new E8's hauling the biggest selection of cars any model railroader could dream of, but no matter how dirty the weather gets, they stay disgustingly clean Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-10-02, 02:00 AM (EST) 1. "RE: All these bright as new Locos and Boxcars!!" Hey Comtrain,Not to say that realism isn't good (it is) but, some modelers
like the look of the HO style models and Engines...takes us back
to the days of shelling out a couple of bucks at the hobby shop
and ploping down that new car on our HO layout and seeing it
run around all shiny and new....(let me wipe back the tears)...
anyway with the tools out there anyone with some ambition can
reskin any of the LOCOS and CARS to just about any look you want
and the only tools you really need are TGATOOL2 and a good paint
program. Get these items and have at making the look of all the models that you like and even renumber em. I know I may be
the minority here but I like the shiny new CARS and LOCOS and
I dont plan on making any dirty ones just yet...(o.k. everyone
let me have it both barrels).LaterControll Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-10-02, 04:36 AM (EST) 3. "RE: All these bright as new Locos and Boxcars!!" Yes I know where you are coming from (and not the car wash, I guess )
But I hope you noticed I was not asking you (all) to leave the clean ones out, I was hoping you (all) would add the dirty ones!
Anyway weathering a loco is a real art! and so someone that can produce a correct model, might stuff up a weathering job??
perhaps I am asking for someone to weather locos! maybe a new craft and forum too??

Jan-10-02, 10:04 AM (EST) 5. "RE: All these bright as new Locos and Boxcars!!" Yes, and those are very good examples of what we are asking for. Realistically weathered and a good range of re-numbered engines so we have variety in our consists. Svante has done a wonderful job with his. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-10-02, 06:51 PM (EST) 8. "RE: All these bright as new Locos and Boxcars!!" Thanks Svante, I really was describing your site, wasn't I?
in fact you are the one everyone should blame!
I spent a lot of hours at your site, seriously stretching the capacity of my 20 gig hard drive!
Anyway fixed that with a new 40 gig Drive this morning and a copy of Win XP ( useless prog. None of my hardware will run on it..no drivers etc) Loaded XP and REMOVED it!Now all I need is a crash course on applying dirt, and all those magnificent 5 packs will look equally as good as your SD40's
Have you thought about doing some UP ta sd70's as well? Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-10-02, 07:04 PM (EST) 9. "RE: All these bright as new Locos and Boxcars!!" Way to go Harold!
Now I have been wondering if I can change the layout of the consist editor..you know it lists Electric, Steam, Diesel,Pass and freight.
My Freight file is so bloody long it takes serious play time up, putting the stuff together!
I would like to add...Main Catergories.. Americas ( What description covers USA, Canada and Mexico?), Great Britain, Europe, Japan and Australia. Sub-catergories,Early Steam Era, Modern Steam-era,Early Diesel, modern Diesel. etc
minor catergories of weathered, new and wrecks [BR> Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
