Jan-06-02, 04:28 PM (EST) ".S files that won't open in WordPad" I'm hoping to add differently skinned cars and trucks to the great 30's vehicles by Jim Jendro (dvcars1). As it stands I can only re-skin the existing vehicles because I can't open the .S file to change it. I think this has been talked about before, but several searches didn't turn up anything. I'm using word pad to open them and they come up gibberish. The SD files open fine. Any suggestions?Steve Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

They are created by the various 3D modeling programs to tell MSTS what the shape and properties of the various models are. The .eng, .sd, and .ace files are variables you can adjust, but not the shapes. Sorry.-------------------Jake-------------------

"RE: .S files that won't open in WordPad" Shape files are usually compressed binary files but you can create text version of shape files by either telling the 3D modeler not to create compressed binary shape files or running the shape file through the FFEDITC_UNICODE program. Jan-07-02, 07:20 AM (EST) 5. "RE: .S files that won't open in WordPad" Sometimes, I have to modify the shape files after creating them. 3D Canvas Pro creates 3D models with textures that are too bright if you use the default material settings. Train Sim Modeler has a "bug" that affects 3D models that have insertion points placed at ends such as track sections and station platforms. There are the fixes:Change the line below to fix the texture problem in 3D Canvas Pro:named_shader ( Tex )tonamed_shader ( TexDiff )Change the fourth number in the line below to match the third number to fix the "disappearing object" problem in Train Sim Modeler:vector ( 0.000499964 0.1 100 ) 2.492tovector ( 0.000499964 0.1 100 ) 100Jeffrey.
