Jan-05-02, 10:10 PM (EST) "Wabash Dream" It's sometime in the spring when you go about cleaning out some junk from your attic. There, stuck beneath a box of useless junk...along with that thingamabob you got your wife for christmas last year, which you happen to wonder just why it's up here if she loved it as much as she said upon opening it, you find a slightly squashed box.It has no label, no writing on it...just a simple shoe box. Passing shot. Took this while hanging from the window of the car as we were going to the station. Mary swears she'll never drive with me again.(Critter Werks Notes: This consist is far from done, as many of you may notice from the odd details in some of the shots. Consider this both a tease, and a progress shot setCouple notes from our researche dept as well. This is not the true Cannonball...it's actually the Blue Bird, but the name Cannonball was associated with it so much that it kinda stuck. The true Cannonball was a freight train )

Jan-07-02, 07:29 AM (EST) 5. "RE: Wabash Dream" Starlight,
Regarding your post #2 here, it's good to find people with a sense of humor aboard. The trouble with posting here is that, if you screw up something, the post doesn't - and leaves your error for all to see ( if I didn't see this on the other forum first, I wouldn't have known there was an error ). It's a good thing Nels has the "Preview" button available......we all should use it.
Nice job on the F units and the cars, and continue the good work.

Jan-07-02, 03:56 PM (EST) 6. "RE: Wabash Dream" ok, this is gonna sound extremly stupid, but since I never EVER saw a Wabah Unit in real life, considering I'm 14 years old, or maybe I'm missing something and this is all a joke, but anyway on to my question, back in the ole days we're you not allowed to take pics of trains in the stations??Greg Marck

Jan-07-02, 05:25 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Wabash Dream" Hey, I'm 14 too........... Anyway I live along the Wabash's old line from St. Louis to Moberly, MO (then to Kansas City) in our little St. Louis Suburb of Ferguson. We still have the depot that the actual Cannonball (or Bluebird) stopped at. It was restored last year and now serves as a Wabash Museum/Ice Cream Shop.

Jan-07-02, 09:22 PM (EST) 8. "RE: Wabash Dream" Ok, in answer to the question about pictures...well, no it wasn't against the law...but when you kinda got down in the yard where you weren't supposed to be, train crews got a tad irate. They still do in fact.Right now, as this project stands, the F unit is ready, the b's are almost done and the passenger cars are back in the shops for some major rebuilding. (They should be smooth sides.)First things first, however, we do intend to reskin and dedicate the "Gene Autry" soon; and perhaps include the original lyrics of the song 'Wabash Cannonball', offering it for release in a few weeks. It's no secret now, that we've also begun work on repainting the Pacific blue, and relettering it for the original cannonball...along with repainting and relettering the heavyweights from CLW, but we're not sure when those will be ready. So, here's the main question. Y'all want that F unit now or want to wait? Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
