Dec-22-01, 06:52 PM (EST) "Wag Files" Can someone tell me what is the purpose of InertiaTensor in a wag file?
Also, I have a downloaded caboose that refuses to couple with anything. It has the correct air system (blue line vs. blue line) but when you get to within a foot of the coupler it runs away like a scared rabbit. It won't let anything get closer than 1 foot. I did modify the Break file under Coupling and got it to where I could couple on the B end of the car, but the A end still acts like a S pole - S pole magnet. Any ideas?Jack Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-23-01, 04:13 AM (EST) 1. "RE: Wag Files" Hi,It is a bounding box problem.
In the .sd file you find the bounding box:
SIMISA@@@@@@@@@@JINX0t1t______shape ( bncab.s
ESD_Detail_Level ( 0 )
ESD_Software_DLev ( 0 )
ESD_Alternative_Texture ( 0 )
ESD_Bounding_Box ( -2.058 -0.500 -6.622 2.058 5.223 6.253 )
)
The values are first three minimum values for each axis and then three maximum values for each axis.
The order is x, y, z where x is the front, y the vertical and z the size (parallel to the track)
I think you have to fiddle with these values (make them smaller), first the z values and see what happens.Dick van den Hoven Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-23-01, 07:18 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Wag Files" The caboose problem sounds like you have the older version of Mark Toland's Steel Caboose. He uploaded a fix to the .sd and .wag files some time ago, and it's in the files library. There are a BUNCH of repaints of this fine caboose floating around, and what you have sounds like one of them. Unfortunately not all of the repainters (myself included) checked to make sure that they had the updated .sd and .wag files.I did a repaint for East Metro RR which used the older files (unfortunately), but recognized the problem as soon as Rich Garber told me about it (yesterday). I sent him both an update and a complete new zip file this morning, so if it's the EMRR caboose I'm sure he'll send it to you.If not, look at the readme file for the caboose you have and see if it's based on the Steel Caboose by Mark Toland - if so, download stlcab2.zip from the files library and rename the included .sd and .wag files to match the .s file that you have (and change internal references of each to match the .s file)Hopefully this helps more than confuses...

Dec-24-01, 00:30 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Wag Files" John,
Yep, it was the EMRR caboose and I was the one that brought the problem to Rich's attention.
By going in and changing the "Break" values I got it to couple at both ends with everything except the Mikado tender. Only the B end would couple with that (wild, I know!) But if the updated file is in Rich's hands right now I'll contact him and get it.
Thanks for clearing this mystery up. I'm working on a complex steam activity for the EMRR and really need this cabose!Jack Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Change BREAK values from ( 5.1e7N 5.1e7N )
to
( 1.1e7N 1.1e7N )and that seems to solve most of the problems -- but not all! The tender of the Mike still won't couple with the A end, and my Activity requires that it start out coupled with the tender.Jack

Dec-25-01, 01:40 AM (EST) 7. "RE: Wag Files" Does anyone know how to make longer drawbars or more slack action between cars. The auto racks always have long drawbar travel (like 3 or 4 feet) and cushion boxs and intermodal sometimes. What is the value that needs to be changed?
