Dec-21-01, 09:43 PM (EST) "B&O, Pennsylvania, and Western Maryland SD40-2's." Below are some screen shots. I've uploaded them already. They should be available soon. BTW. The extra yellow line on the WM one is a mystery to me. Also is anyone having problems with missing files with these locos? I just notcied I'm using a sound file from this site that includes dispatcher background noise. I'll fix that if you guys are having problems using them. Let me know what ya think. Also I'm planning a set of SD40-2's and SD45's in a blue B&O paint.B&O SD40-2

It is hard to tell from your screen shot.
The PRR unfortunately is very incorrect. The full Pensylvania name was found on pre-early 1960's units, i.e. GP-9.
The keystone was used on the GP-30's (1962) onward, but it was a small decal located a few feet behind the cab. It was on the blower duct on the one side. That was the only lettering later PRR units had as they were anticipating a merger at the time
( Penn Central eventually). The PRR was keeping costs down by doing this.
I should note that many re-skins people do are apparently being based on some HO scale models that do not have correct color schemes.
I might be nit-picking, but if you wish to have a unit that is more prototypical try researching some photos on the net or in books first. On the net look for railroad historical societies.
Both the PRR and B&O have very good historical groups.Bob Staples Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-22-01, 09:41 PM (EST) 3. "RE: B&O, Pennsylvania, and Western Maryland SD40-2's." Yes the B&O unit does have the capital dome on the ends. I realize the Pennsy unit is not correct. It's fictional and made to accompany another fictional Pennsy unit I skinned. It wasn't meant to be prototypical at all. I found the logo, had an idea and played around with the skin a bit.The Western Maryland unit is fictional also. Although the livery is from a photo I found. It's nice to have something different once in a while I think. I'm sure others agree.
I do find photos on the net for most of my repaints and try to stick to prototypical standards on most models. However I find it refreshing to break away from the norm as I did with the Pennsy unit and will more than likely do with others. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
