Dec-16-01, 06:11 PM (EST) "Texturing objects" I have Train Sim Modeler. I had problems texturing a subway car using the Texture Properties dialog box because I can't zoom in on the image to select part of the image for part of the subway car. I can't see well because I have one good eye. Is there easier way to select part of image in the dialog box? Jeffrey. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-17-01, 06:02 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Texturing objects" Jeff,TSM will display in the textures image crop box roughly the size of the raw file, ie if the master bmp/tga is 512x512 then the preview image will be bigger, if its 256x256 then the image is smaller and harder to work with, sadly 1024 x1024 doesnt get any bigger than 512x512, mind you TSM is better than FSDS which always displayed in 256 which is a tad annoying as most textures in FS are 1024.Apply your texture then view in TSM 3D window, this can be zoomed in and alignment checked, if its out go back to the texture window and move the crop box by altering the numbers on the top right, this will give better control rather than redrawing the crop box around your texture.Hope this helpsMichael Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-17-01, 06:22 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Texturing objects" I found out that Abacus updated the help file for TSM. The help file now has a tutorial on creating a diesel locomotive. I went through most of the tutorial on creating the diesel locomotive. I learned how to select polygons on the body, how to split the selected polygons from the body to create new parts, how to create texture templates, and how to apply textures to the parts of the body. I'm doing the same thing to the subway car body that now has eight parts - floor, roof, two sides, two ends, and two roof ends. I'm creating new texture files based on the texture templates. Jeffrey. Dec-18-01, 05:56 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Texturing objects" I ran into problems with the subway car if the roof is in three pieces instead of one piece. One-pixel wide lines don't display well so I had to use two-pixel lines. I don't know why the lines are fuzzy. Jeffrey. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-17-01, 08:16 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Texturing objects" The 3-D window trick only seems to work for bmp files. TGA textures don't display for me in the 3-D window. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
